Critics Consensus

Becky isn't quite able to sustain enough intensity to fully take advantage of its premise, though it serves up entertainingly nasty thrills for genre fans.

Mark Kermode Kermode & Mayo's Film Review It has a certain retro throwback pleasure for anyone still longing for the days of VHS...squishy gore effects, a nostalgic charm... Oct 8, 2020 Full Review Cath Clarke Guardian The lesson here is don't mess with the inner rage of a teenage girl. But Becky's crazed kills get more and more gimmicky, and there's nothing in the script to indicate what has turned her into a pint-sized death-dealer. Rated: 2/5 •  Sep 24, 2020 Full Review

Justin T Why do so many films cast comedy actors in serious roles? It really ruins the mood. Kevin James is about as threatening as a teddy bear. It鈥檚 not just Kevin though, none of the cast except Lulu Wilson are right for their roles. Becky is awesome as a character and the casting of Lulu is so good but the rest of the cast don鈥檛 fit the roles and the characters are dull. Otherwise it鈥檚 quite engaging although a little slow and repetitive in places. The car crash looked fake. The story isn鈥檛 very good either and the ending is especially disappointing. It鈥檚 like a beautifully made and very violent Home Alone (1990) but also flawed. It鈥檚 a good film let down by bad decisions. The incredible titular character is sadly squandered. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/20/25 Full Review Denis B The frustration and sorrow in Becky portrays a realistic grief of loss and in turn a response absolutely warranted Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/25 Full Review
