Beeswax Reviews
Whether or not a person likes this slice-of-life film will depend almost entirely on how closely he identifies with the central characters; the film examines the everyday drama of a couple of hipsterish thirtysomethings as they navigate their relationships and jobs. There is much to be said about mumblecore; just not here.
A beautiful quiet film. Performances are great, very subtle & naturalistic. In contrast to his other films, this features predominantly women which is interesting.
Wow this was hard viewing. Rarely have I sat through such a dull film, and this had potential, that's the worst bit. I am not someone who enjoys blockbusters and explosions, so no one can claim I don't get "slice of life" films, generally speaking, I do. But this is so tediously dull and nothing happens. There is no point at all to this story. The cast do well with what they have, and I liked the setting at the vintage clothing shop. If they had have given this an actual plot, I think I would have really liked this film. As it is, I feel like I just sat through a really boring day at work listening to other people talk crap. I would really like my 2 hours back.
Starts off a bit boring, but ends up a bit interesting. I'd probably get along well with the sisters.
The first twenty minutes were really weak I thought. It felt like the scripts were forced and really weren't adding to the story. Then with the addition of more characters I became interested. Then at what some would call the "ending" it just ended. No real conclusion. Just cut to credits. Kind of weird.

God this was boring. This is labelled as a comedy is it? Could have fooled me. I heard it was used as a placedo for sleeping pills.
I do not understand how anyone could like this...It's not even good for an indie/art film...I couldn't really discern an actual plot...say what you want about me, but I'm sticking w/ my big budget Hollywood movies...& this movie stunk...bad & it was BORING...
Will the monotony ever cease?! Unrelentingly dull and painfully realistic: Beeswax is only for those who enjoy unenjoyable movies. 42/100
Kinda slow and a bit boring at times, but excellent performances from both girls. The mumblecore movies I've seen all seem to have these very subtle yet resonant endings, and it makes it (to me) worth the journey.
BEESWAX comes off as an exercise in improvision. with no passion , emotion or urgency. If the characters don't care, why should the viewer?
Quiet, casual film from mumblecore filmmaker Andrew Bujalski about twin sisters (who are non professional actors, by the way) dealing with growing up and growing apart. Very realistic female leads. Also, probably the first movie I've seen about a person with a disability where the disability is not portrayed as the source of her problems.
glad dat aft wtchin tons of shows ,comes a movie with true , sincere , natural cnvrsation.....nt rili in d mood so hard to sit thru
I hope I'm never hip enough to get the appeal of the recent mumblecore (or "fly on the wall") trend in indie filmmaking -- capturing the boring, often improvised, incessant chatter of 20-something hipsters and their precious, self-aware relationships. Torturous. (Rating: 1/2 star)
