Big Fat Liar Reviews
"Bye, Bye Little Boy Blue... I am Back!" This movie is pure chaos and I love it. It feels like the script was thrown together in a day or two, but that's not a terrible thing. I imagine the board looked something like this: Step 1 - Kid is a liar Step 2 - Kid tells the truth and no one believes him Step 3 - Kid does whatever he can to prove he's telling the truth Step 4 - Paul Giamatti is dyed blue Step 5 - Kid becomes a successful writer in Hollywood Frankie Muniz and Amanda Bynes are adorable, Paul Giamatti is the epitome of a vindictive villain and the antics are hilarious. There are dumb moments scattered throughout, but it's the perfect movie to throw on when you don't want to veg out. Best Character: Frank Best Quote: "Eat my bloomers, blue boy!" - Crazy Old Lady Best Scene: Marty turns blue. Honorable mention: Finding the hideout Best Song: "Hungry Like the Wolf"
Standard fare kids movie, elevated by the star quality of Muniz and Giamatti. It's playful and silly, yet the actions of the protagonist are deeply malicious. It's enjoyable and light-hearted, though ridiculous.
Fun, lighthearted movie. Yes, it's a kid/teen film. Nothing wrong with that.
This movie has an interesting story and set-up, but unfortunately, the film does nothing with it and resorts to simple slapstick and gags.
Great family movie that had us crying laughing! 😂 #LovedIt ❤️
i re watched this movie and it still holds up as a really great family comedy i still love this movie
a really good movie, funny and lovely
This was one of my favorite movies as a kid
It's Not Good. There is nothing truly broken about this except this should never have been made into a big screen feature. This is a 30 minute animated episode of a kids cartoon. The acting isn't good filled with over the top performances, no chemistry between the two leads and jokes that fall flat 95% of the time. The cinematography while creative and fun to look at with certain sets that involve the studio backlots isn't shot in a creative quality way and the rest of it is very uninspired. The music is over the top and isn't very good either. The worst thing is the editing. Over a third of this I feel could be cut and nothing would be lost. Jokes/Gags that don't move the plot forward and just fill run time and big stunts that serve no purpose. The pacing is actually ok oddly enough probably because this is extremely short to begin with. Honestly skip this and just watch a 30 minute show that has a similar plot.
Some really funny moments. Great for kids and there’s a lot of that kind of humor
this movie is a little random for my liking
Rewatched this recently and I'm not sure what all of the hate is about. It's like a children's classic movie. It's not going to be a cinematic work of art, but it's definitely entertaining.
A funny comedy with Franie Muniz and Amanda Bynes working great together, and Paul Giamatti playing a smooth villain.
Starts off slow, although they have relatable characters, some are over-dramatized. For the time that is was made, it has a good moral about telling the truth and some good effects too. Overall, it was cheesy and not exactly a staple novelty movie that you need to watch.
To be honest, I think this movie teaches you one big lesson: Always be honest about someone who steals stuff from you.
It was a lot of tongue in cheek fun! I visited the park - so it was also fun to see the same things!
Fun watch now and before, will probably watch it again, would look forward to a reboot, and can recommend as a fun time. I like Paul Giamati (hard to believe he did this and played Rhino), young Amanda Bynes is great to see again, and Frankie Muniz is able to hold his own. What was at the time a modernization of Dennis the Menace, this movie only fails to hold up based on the mobile tech and premise of Wolfe being such a jerk he would risk his success to do so when the establishing scene is him specifically not doing that. I'm sure there is an argument to him not having his success then, but, to me, that just means he has more to lose later when all he has to do is make a phone call.
Before these two teen stars lost their grove and fell out of Hollywood, they made a pretty decent movie. I liked this as a kid and it still isn't a bad movie.
