Bird Box Reviews

Apr 7, 2025

This is one of the best thrillers I've ever seen. The entire time I was on edge, hoping that whatever-it-was wouldn't get the characters. I was hooked from beginning to end, and I really enjoyed watching it. I definitely recommend it for thriller fans!

Good acting and suspense but crappy script with vague plot points and a mediocre ending without explaining the unseen horror presence other than a rustle in the trees. Budget B grade horror movie.

If you're looking to get scared, this isn't the movie for you. But the storyline is great and well-executed. Bird Box is a tense survival thriller set in a post-apocalyptic world where mysterious entities drive people to suicide when seen. Sandra Bullock delivers a strong performance as Malorie, a mother trying to protect her children while navigating a dangerous, desolate world. The film effectively builds suspense with its high-stakes atmosphere, but at times, its reliance on the mystery of the creatures and vague plot points can feel a bit frustrating. Despite this, Bird Box offers a gripping, emotional journey about survival, motherhood, and hope.

I like this movie, but I can't really justify it. On the surface, it's absolutely mediocre. But I like this movie. Sue me.

A lame attempt to make a Don't Look "A Quiet Place" movie that's not even close to that level.

What to say, another netflix movie, another silly failure

Nichts von diesem Film macht auch nur ansatzweise Sinn. Unfassbar nervtötend von der ersten Sekunde an.

Algumas cenas boas, outras nem tanto, mas em geral, é um filme que entretém.

What an incredible phenomenon! The film "Bird Box," featuring Sandra Bullock, took the world by storm upon its release, becoming one of Netflix's most remarkable success stories. While critics praised the film and audiences flocked to watch it, the ratings didn't quite reflect the enthusiasm, which I find puzzling as an avid moviegoer. Personally, I felt the film could have benefited from stronger storytelling to elevate it further, and the ending seemed to leave some viewers underwhelmed. However, Sandra Bullock delivered an outstanding performance, and Sarah Paulson's role was particularly striking and memorable. I’m careful not to spoil any surprises, as I want everyone to experience the shock value of certain moments firsthand. Overall, the film expertly maintains a suspenseful atmosphere, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats, with constant questions about what will happen next. In my opinion, it certainly doesn't deserve a low rating. I think most viewers will appreciate the film, even if they only watch it once. It's the kind of movie that they might come back to years down the line. While not everyone is drawn to suspense thrillers, having Sandra Bullock as the lead makes it all the more captivating. She is undeniably a true cinematic icon, a classic star in every sense of the word. ⭐️

Seeing as I just watched this I feel my review to be more fair than the constant barrage of "A quiet place is better" reviews, as the 2 movies were released close to each other. Even comparisons to 'The happening' are unfair. A quiet Place had a physical enemy with a known weakness, The Happening had an unseen enemy that turned out to be trees!?!?! But this title sits in its own place. Not a Horror at all, but a solid thriller. The unseen enemy has no weakness, it causes people to suicide or 'Raptures' them into cult like psycopaths. This obviously presents it's own challenges unique to the movie. Sandra Bullock seems to get all the credit, but she couldn't have pulled it off without the supporting cast of A listers. Just watch it without any preconceived notions.

I have no clue why this movie has such a low rating. This movie is great. It's really hard to pull of a Sci-Fi thriller and have it not come off as cheesy but this movie pulls it off super well. The plot is strong, the directing is great, the actors are great as well. It's a great watch if you're into strange plots like these. The conflicts perfectly set up the entire rest of the movie. I recommend this movie a lot!

Uh, yeah, no. This was like.. really bad. I kept watching thinking "Oh maybe the interesting stuff is a bit later on" but no. The ending was super mediocre too. By the 30 minute mark I wanted to click off but kept watching just in case. Yeah that was a mistake. The one star is for the one thing they did right - I felt super creeped out, not necessarily scared but just off. They conveyed that feeling super well. Sadly, that did not carry this really disappointing film.

Would have been better without the subpar acting. MGK? Seriously?

Someone once watched a stinkeroo M. Knight Shyamalan movie called the HAPPENING—which MAD Magazine might have rightfully parodied as “the CRAPPENING”—and decided that even taking a bowel movement on a typewriter would produce a better script than that movie had. BIRD BOX is that someone's steaming pile of poo. It’s better than M. Knight, worse than JJ. The Bird Box is A Quiet Place except even more boring. This time, you have to keep your eyes shut. (Hey, they should make a move where the characters have to be quiet and aren't allowed to look at anything and aren't allowed to smell anything or touch anything.) ///// Most of Bird Box is a survival picture, although the protagonist does have to come to terms with whether she wants to be a mother. Secretly, I cared more about why the monster(s) were on Earth, but that’s just me. ///// The ending of the movie was cute, but it didn’t leave me satisfied. I did not see a resolution to the horror, and so, if the monsters were simply there to be a catalyst for the protagonist’s maternal conflicts, we should have spent more time on her, not on the spooky wind and bright daylight.

I enjoyed the mystery and subtle hints to the plot. I thought it was an interesting concept and would definitely watch again.

Really enjoyed this movie. Very suspenseful with an unexpected ending.

Sandra Bullock carries this film, which has a pseudo-intellectual ending.
