Bloody Hell Reviews

Bloody Hell playfully employs a fairy tale aesthetic to impart one of life’s most earnest lessons: you can’t run away from your problems.

| Original Score: 3.5/5 | Jul 3, 2024

I love me some Big Muscles and Bigger Violence, and Bloody Hell's got those things in spades

| Jul 2, 2021

If [Grierson and Benjamin] can get some of these belabored tics out of their system, they could actually make something special. Fingers crossed.

Bloody Hell is a lot of fun. The characters are fun, the dialogue between Rex and his Ego is fun, even the camerawork is fun. If you don't like fun, I wouldn't recommend it.

| Original Score: 7\10 | Mar 1, 2021

Bloody Hell manages to take on the tough guy trope and give it self aware freshness in a completely different way than American Psycho and Fight Club.

| Original Score: 8/10 | Feb 24, 2021

One of the film's greatest assets is its willingness to pull the rug out from under the viewer purposefully and continually throughout its running time.

Highly effective genre-blender. Manages to keep you engaged and entertained from beginning to end.

| Original Score: B+ | Feb 17, 2021

"Bloody Hell" is an assured work, confident in what it is and not trying to be what it isn't. For a rom-horror-com that works on all fronts, that's a job well done.

| Original Score: B | Feb 11, 2021

Bloody Hell, in the most perfect of ways, takes the most intense situations and manages to throw in absolutely absurd humor in a flawless fashion.

| Original Score: 9.5/10 | Feb 4, 2021

Ben O'Toole's kitschy, entertaining dual role is the least-bad things about Bloody Hell, which is drowning in grating, post-Tarantino stylistic flourishes.

Bloody Hell is the kind of movie that would have cinema audiences punching the air and gasping in shock in equal measures. Even though we have to make do with the less social home screenings, the euphoria will still be there. Certainly a film not to miss.

| Original Score: 4/5 | Jan 29, 2021

It's equal parts Wrong Turn and John Wick and by the time the film hits the climax, it's a cathartic release that will have you cheering for the violence.

If a comedic horror movie is geared toward an adult audience, based on all the bloody violence in it, that movie better have humor that adults can appreciate, not the childish and dull comedy that makes Bloody Hell a bloody bore.

| Jan 22, 2021

Its off-beat humor and unrepentant ghastliness make it a delight to watch, chopped up bits of human flesh and all.

| Jan 21, 2021

Grierson's maniacal, hyperactive work certainly lives up to its title, thanks to O'Toole's engaging demeanor and comic timing and one hell of a screenplay from Robert Benjamin.

| Original Score: 3/4 | Jan 21, 2021

Bloody Hell is blissfully, absurdly over-the-top, but in a twistedly charming way.

| Original Score: 3/5 | Jan 20, 2021

The combination of Grierson's talents behind the camera and O'Toole's talents in front of the camera make Bloody Hell a bloody good time.

| Original Score: 3.5/5 | Jan 20, 2021

You won't find many scares but there is plenty of gore to keep the horror fan satisfied. This film knows it's a dark comedy and embraces the fact. No cheap jump scares, just blood, guts, and laughs making this an entertaining thrill ride.

| Original Score: 3/4 | Jan 16, 2021

Energetic and brash, Bloody Hell comes close to bad-taste horror comedy nirvana...

| Jan 16, 2021

The wildly violent and extremely funny adventure of a boy, a girl, and the cannibalistic Finnish family standing between them.
