Blue Iguana Reviews
Ever been to a good rock/pop concert in a small venue? You've been drinking some beer and you're there with some friends. This movie has given me the same kind of pleasure. It's excited and laid-back at the same time. It's fun. It tickles, it breathes, it relaxes, it chills. It's silly and it's cool. And it has Sam Rockwell.
Romance? Absurdism? Guns and gangsters? Yes. Watch this film if you have Sam Rockwell’s off-kilter taste in screenplays, or a big sappy gooey yen to see the boy get the girl.
This should work given Rockwell's track record but nothing about it is convincing.
Blue iguana is yet another lame Quentin Tarantino pulp fiction knock off. The only real saving grace of this film is Sam Rockwell he was good in this film and gives a very good presence. Beyond him though none of the characters are very likable or memorable. The movie isn’t very funny and the script is messy. Some scenes of violence are also over the top.
Sam Rockwell and Phoebe Fox have incredible chemistry in this British gangster heist film that dares to ask the question: What if Guy Ritchie was smart? What if Tarantino had heart? Witty and tightly paced without feeling forced, this movie offers nuanced characters, exciting action, intruige, fun, and romance. A really solid flick!
BADABOOM Has any Sam Rockwell project ever failed to deliver? Thought not. Right in his smarmy, slovenly, charming wheelhouse, Rockwell carries this messy British backstabbing caper with a whiplash plot, a steady stream of ridiculous characters, plenty of yuks and plenty of blood. How about a romantic interest who is an abominably messy eater? How about a snappy, chirpy wingman who carries a tampon for the inevitable bullet hole plug? How about a wild-eyed antagonist who sports a gloriously greasy mullet? No more spoilers. Suffice to say, there's plenty here to devour. There's a big blue diamond at the centre of all the troubles, but that merely serves as a simple table setter for all the tomfoolery. What starts as an absurdist comedic heist, quickly turns to dangerous levels where everyone seems over their heads. Among the many small highlights littering this movie, is a chaotic pub shoot out where bottles and glasses are the chief victims. Turns out the Brits are terrible, terrible shots. There's plenty of holes in the plot, but the free flowing vibe saves the day. Stop trying to make any sense of "Blue Iguana", and just enjoy the trip. - hipCRANK
I liked this movie to degrees that varied almost as much as the characters massively varying degrees of competence.
A very good indie movie. The film is well written and starts of with a lot of humour. The humour becomes less frequent but other aspects of the plot come into play. There is more drama and well written story lines and slightly less humour as the movie goes on. However it does retain a funny, silly side. There is also a well played romance and some good action scenes. The main antagonist however sometimes his acting was sub par. Overall a very good indie movie.
Has a B grade style about it, but the US/ UK culture blend is done well, and creates a lot of laughs. Silly at times, but mostly enjoyably funny.
I really wanted to like this movie. I like Sam Rockwell & Amanda Donahoe a lot. Sadly neither of them can save this mess of a ï¿ 1/2comedyï¿ 1/2Â?; yes, comedy is in quotation marks because this film is not just NOT AT ALL FUNNY but itï¿ 1/2(TM)s horribly offensive. Spoiler: a character snaps his motherï¿ 1/2(TM)s neck & kills her & itï¿ 1/2(TM)s supposed to be amusing! What? Itï¿ 1/2(TM)s as though the writer wrote the concept of the script in a foreign language and then ran it through a bad online translator; you kind of understand what they are trying to do/say but itï¿ 1/2(TM)s just somehow garbled in a way that isnï¿ 1/2(TM)t quite coherent & not in an amusing way. Stay away from Blue Iguana like itï¿ 1/2(TM)s carrying salmonella.
Fun film filled with quirky characters and great moments. The cast sells the movie. It feels like a class Guy Ritchie needs to revisit.
Super fun movie to relax at home and watch! My husband and I really enjoyed it.
Funny. Fox nails the unrefined strictly business female leader of a group of clumsily partners. Rockwell and Schwartz play a perfect duo...With Schwartz the sure fire comic. a combination of Snatch/Hot Fuzz.
