Bo Burnham: Inside Reviews
Only about five minutes of it are worthwhile. Otherwise, terribly unfunny or interesting or entertaining
Bo Burnham makes the most of his limited scope and budget during the pandemic with his creative anthology comedy musical one-man-show. It’s impressive how entertaining and visually delightful this movie can be despite all taking place in one room and being produced by a single person. The songs are very catchy and biting with satire on how desensitized we have become to the world’s ever-growing chaos. There’s some great self-reflection and it felt like a very personal inside look into Bo Burnham’s psyche over the course of a year of living in a post-Covid world. I only occasionally watched Bo Burnham before this Netflix special, and it was a great introduction that makes me excited to see what next he has in store for us.
Had a hard time watching this even though my girlfriend loved it. All the songs seemed to last 3 minutes too long and did nothing but repeat themselves. They give set up and punchline then repeat the same conclusions without end. Could have been decent for a neuro typical who likes trashy pop music i guess
If you were to condense all of the two years of the pandemic that was COVID-19, you would get INSIDE. The hints of suicidal tones, the mess that is a production when you are in the head of an anxious, depressed mind, and the pain that is creativity at times, are all very evident here. In a personal way, this film is a Hell I have faced many times myself, and is an encouraging piece of work to replenish the creative and logistical mind. Bo Burnham creates an atmosphere that is almost terrifying, but very close to the embodiment of how life was in 2020-2021. The music is well-done, the visuals are absolutely astonishing even when placed in one single living area, and the excellency of hurt that Bo portrays is absolutely incredible while also portraying how terrible production and directing can be at times. The B-roll alone is chaotic, but comprehensive when put together altogether in the scope of the mind of Bo. Burnham’s masterpiece should live as a monument in our history books for being the best descriptor of the isolation we faced as an entire world.
This man complaining about being sad, during the time that everyone was sad, yet he had loads of a money, a beautiful wife, an apartment in New York City and a huge amount of adoring fans, the most out of touch movie I have ever watched. The songs in this movie feel like listening to kids bop whilst actively greening out, truly a hellish soundscape. All In all terrible movie.
Bo Burnham is the only one to properly work through the collective trauma that was quarantine, and we are all better for it. Go to therapy, or become the subject of this piece.
its not just a comedy show, its a poetic masterpiece. best piece written, directed and shot all by bo himself
This will go down in history is one of the greatest creations ever.
Even the extras are brilliant.
A true masterpiece of intelligent comedy. Bo has really raised the bar for himself in this special. Be prepared to be fully immersed in this one man show, that touches on just about all the absurd and beautiful aspects of being human today. Sheer genius. Written, directed, edited, and filmed by one man with an incredible vision… and he nailed it. Absolutely epic.
Bo Burnham uses unconventional means to make the audience laugh in "Inside." The lyrics to ever song are bizarre, but true and relatable. Every song takes something that you would never think for a second to be a song, and makes it a song. Great!
A really dark but relatable insight into how life was during the pandemic to be trapped inside desperately trying to find something to entertain yourself. Accurately describes the feelings of hopelessness and aging in a way that is relatable even out of the pandemic. A funny but thoughtful film that will stick with you long after you've finished
I grew up alongside Bo Burnham. I remember watching his specials on Comedy Central and laughing about the edgy jokes he would proudly make. For years, he just wasn't around and I had never thought to question it. When Inside was released, I had no Ira what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised to see a familiar name. Nothing could have prepared me for what I was about to experience. This could very well be one of the greatest pieces of media ever created. With an astounding soundtrack, incredible lyrics, and perfect comedic timing, Bo single-handedly crafts the story of his own mental turmoil in a time when we all might have been feeling similar. This project has to be seen to be believed and I can not recommend it enough. Everyone has felt alone in the world at one time or another. Bo feels that too. And then he tries to laugh about it.
The most underrated movie I have seen in a long time.
Ow. This whole thing just....ow
A superbly executed solo piece, bordering on genius, reflecting the unforgivable anguish that politicians put young people through with their inane lockdowns. Watched on Netflix.
