Boat Trip Reviews

Cuba Gooding Jr. is the kind of guy who does ten minutes of shtick every time the little light in the fridge comes on.

| Mar 5, 2007

It also has one of the most lame plots in the history of lame plots.

| Original Score: 2/5 | Dec 30, 2006

This is a tasteless and tacky farce laced with cheap homophobic jokes and cringe-inducing stereotypes ...

The movie improves immeasurably if you visualize a looming iceberg in the corner of the frame.

Full Review | Mar 25, 2003

A puerile comedy so appalling and unfunny, it's like contracting the Norwalk virus at sea. Twice.

| Original Score: 0/5 | Mar 23, 2003

This movie is so bland, I can't even bring myself to completely trash it with a one-star spike.

| Original Score: 2/5 | Mar 21, 2003

Flouncing and preening, [Gooding] works hard to sell the movie's penile, puerile jokes, his strain so evident that it borders on sad.

| Original Score: 1/4 | Mar 21, 2003

Gags in the insipid sex comedy Boat Trip are both lame and crass, meaning you not only don't laugh but stifle groans.

Cuba Gooding Jr. achieved fame by shouting 'Show me the money.' Obviously he was not acting.

There is no limbo contest on this ship, but you have to wonder: How low can Gooding go?

Full Review | Original Score: 2/4 | Mar 21, 2003

This is a movie made for nobody, about nothing.

| Original Score: .5/4 | Mar 21, 2003

There has been some concern that Boat Trip, the new Cuba Gooding Jr.-Horatio Sanz comedy, might be harmful to gay men. This is not entirely true. Boat Trip is bad for everybody.

Full Review | Original Score: 2/4 | Mar 21, 2003

So much for subtlety, not to mention sensitivity to stereotypes.

| Mar 21, 2003

Fairly cringe-inducing.

Full Review | Original Score: 1.5/4 | Mar 21, 2003

Woefully unfunny.

In a time of war, our troubled nation yearns for fat guys telling fag jokes and black men dancing. Hollywood answers the call.

| Mar 21, 2003

In a week when travesties like the Gwyneth Paltrow stewardess movie remind us that almost nobody in Hollywood remembers what the hell a comedy is, Boat Trip's skill and modest ambition inspire nostalgic reverence.

| Original Score: 3/4 | Mar 21, 2003

A smutty, imbecilic farce.

Boat Trip goes down faster than the Titanic and is far more deserving of its fate.

Full Review | Original Score: 1/5 | Mar 20, 2003

In its frenetic, good-natured way, Boat Trip is a trip.
