A star is born; Barbie Ferrera is magnificent. I see her winning an Oscar in her future. Daphne Bob Jeanie & her hapless father Bob were perfectly cast. This is the art of cinema at its best; it’ll make you cry and laugh and get very cross. A special movie. The story becomes a tiny bit predictable but so what, these characters & this movie are simply precious.

I think this movie will go down as an all time great. I’m not sure why but the honesty and raw, vivid picture of growing up in a hostile environment and its later reverberations will resonate deeply. Plus we can all consider our chosen family as a result.

This is an indie gem, and I was laughing harder and crying deeper than I have in years. I feel a renewed belief that, if we find chosen family, we should hold them close. It’s a potent dose of positivity and a reminder of our shared humanity, brought to life through the pitch-perfect delivery of John Leguizamo, Barbie Ferreira, French Stewart, Rachael Bay Jones, and Lauren Lolo Spencer. Bob doesn’t just tell a story—it immerses you in an emotional experience that feels profoundly personal yet universally relatable. It’s a must-see! Get out the door and find a showing near you.

As the last of the credits rolled, I realized I was still sitting there in the darkened theater along with those around me and as I wiped away my tears, I could hear the sniffles from those closest to me. To say that the film was carthatic could be a bit of an understatement. Tracie Laymon does a wondeful job of navigating the story and actors into a solid feature worthy of the rave reviews it's garnering. It really isn't that fantastical to think that one person can make such a difference in someone's life. That what you say and do can cause such a ripple effect, that it changes how someone perceives themselves, and how powerful empathy and compassion can be if given at the right time. I hope this film is a start of a ripple effect in Tracie's career and I look forward to her next projects.

The whole cast was wonderful. Great acting and great story. It was sad, funny and heart felt. Everyone left wiping tearing away. The best movie I’ve seen this year. Go see it soon. So worth it.

John and Barbie are incredible. The story was beautiful.

I don't usually cry at movies, but this one brought me to tears. It's also rare that I leave the theater commenting on the acting, but Barbie Perreira's performance was an exception. I can't think of a performance in a recent film which moved me as much as hers did. For me, the high point of the film is when her character (Lily) takes the lessons she learned from Bob's kindness and applies it to another person who needs a friend.

It was a delightful movie to watch and make sure appreciate what you have and a father. And that there is kindness out there in this world.

Loved everything about this movie. It's been so long since I've seen a new original film with so much heart. So impressed with Tracie Laymon on her directorial debut. Can't recommend enough!!

I don’t normally get emotional from movies but this one got me deep in my feelings. From start to finish, you become emotionally involved with the characters. Without giving anything away, the ending alone had me tearing up. It’s very well done. On another note, it’s very refreshing to see an actress that’s not rail thin and caked in makeup. Barbie Ferreira’s portrayal of Lily was absolutely heart wrenching. Every emotion was so believable.

Excellently acted. Bring a box of tissues. A five hankie cry.

What an amazing heartwarming beautiful film!! I would give it 10 stars if I could. It was difficult to watch at first… but seeing the characters find their way was so inspiring and fulfilling to see. I didn’t realize - til the end of the movie - that it was based on a true story. Wow. It’s even more beautiful knowing that. I hope everyone sees this movie. We all need a lot of hope and community and love through these turbulent times in our history. What a balm. Grateful I saw this today. You should see it too! Wonderful acting by everyone. Wow.

This movie was a complete surprise to me. It is simply beautiful and highlights the importance of human connection. Barbie Ferreira and John Leguizamo proved that they are first-rate actors, deserving of great roles. This movie touched my heart in a way that I cannot describe. I wish more people came to see st the big screen, movies like this deserve to shine big. Miss Ferreira is pure gold.
