Ehhhh idk. I was expecting something better. Henry was just so stuck up and unlikeable for a WHILE. The story was too long and the movie felt like it was 4 hours.

Maria not only plagiarized his book, she turned the male lead's work of his life into erotic content without his consent. That's abuse and should not be romanticized. My sister was watching this movie and I couldn't stop thinking that Maria should have had a emotionally painful consequence for this and she doesn't deserve Herry's love. The need to put sex on every adult media should not be normalized.

Entertaining fun sexy colourful film. Highly recommend to make you smile. Beautiful location in Mexico and shots were stunning especially night scenes. Chemistry between Sam and Veronica was electric. Once seen you will want to watch over and over again.

The general idea could have been great, but it's so boring to watch, it's a from com but there's not much of comedy or romance here. :\

Purtroppo Sam Clayfin è una scelta mainstream per la notorietà dell'attore che però poco o nulla c'entra con la parte che interpreta e in cui non sembra credere granché. Alcuni scambi di battute sono gradevoli ma per il resto si ha sempre la percezione di una sorta di imbarazzo generale che non permette mai di essere veramente partecipi della storia.

Despite the lovely scenes from Mexico, this was a disaster of a movie, barely watchable, due to inept acting and unlikely situations, besides a certain prejudice towards Mexico, though I don't think it was intended. Like, why driving on so many dirt roads?

It was cute. Interesting premise, unique but not totally contrived. The male lead could have been Hugh Grant 25 years ago. I enjoyed it and recommend it if you like the room-com genre (which I do).

Am I the only one who was watching this thinking what it could have been with Hugh Grant and Salma Hayek? Fun idea that worked, but missing a little star power. I know we have to give space for other faces, but this film felt like Hugh Grant all the way.

Critics are the most clueless people in the world. How they get paid to give worthless advice is truly amazing, sort of like liberal arts college professors. This movie was amazing. One of the best movies I've seen in the past 5 years.

Book burning anyone? Look, Book of Love has some pluses going for it... the scenery was pretty good, and the acting wasn't horrible for a rom com. But the story was ATROCIOUS! Nothing made any sense. Why does a zero selling nobody author get ripped off for a pot boiler in Mexico? It might make sense if they were ripping off Stephen King or something, but otherwise what was the point? Then the guy goes to Mexico and goes along with whatever garbage is put in front of him. And for some reason, she is charmed. By the guy who is useless... at writing, and ethics, hell changing a TIRE. Maybe the fact the guy looks vaguely like Henry Cavill crossed with Hugh Grant and he does the gosh shucks Hugh Grant thing? Horrible.

Refreshing movie for Sam, it looks like he managed to get out of his comfort zone by moving to a different location and a new language. As for location and photography was good to have such a colorful location. Good acting, classic theme yet not boring

This is an average comedy. Great aspirations but it does not deliver as much as expected. The acting is good but the plot is very predictable. Has a few good scenes but the screenplay is not really that funny. Good try.

Nice concept, but always portray Mexico as a semi-rural nation. If she would be a translator, most likely she would not live there. Why do Mexican fathers always have to be absent??? Just the same lame stereotype

Missed the mark. Poor script , ridiculous storyline and got to be Sam Claflin's worst Rom Com. Some bad acting too. An hour and a half wasted out of my life . Cannot believe how awful it was.

Loved it! I'm such a sucker when it comes to Sam Claflin in rom coms, which says a lot because I don't watch many romantic comedies. I enjoyed the on-screen chemistry between he and Verónica and laughed at quite a few moments. All in all the movie was totally worth the wait!

Sam Claflin and Veronica are pleasurable to watch. I love their chemistry. Makes me suspend disbelief and be in love like their characters
