Borgman Reviews
Eerie and disturbing. It starts off one way and goes a completely other, and it feels like a train bound for a crash but you can't get off.
There is no better film exploration of bourgeois self-hatred, and how it opens the door to evil of every kind.
It's the kind of film that keeps you guessing even after you've finished it.
Aimless story, a bit interesting at times but mostly boring.
Nonsense. It could have been better if I would have written it.
The language barrier made it difficult to get into but the premise it laid out was easy enough to follow and understand for awhile. Then it started twisting and turning a bit and it became less easy to follow with having to read the subtitles. Still, the build-up to the conclusion is decent and...the conclusion itself justifies the means. Very diabolical but it lacks an overall sense of reason, thought I think it's meant to be a about a cult and it's origins but that's not entirely clear nor is it clear what kind of cult they are.
The incarnation of evil manipulates and entices…. Perhaps lacking in subtly, the film makes up for it’s flaws with great performances and direction
A series of random events that are sometimes interesting and sometimes coherent but usually not both.
It's started well, intriguing and all... but the more I watched the weirder it gets, and as the time was running off I understood that the circle would not close at all, so instead of a story I found myself annoyed with a straight weird line.
Stylistically David Lynch inflected story about a sadistic force which, escaping men with guns, arrives in suburbia, killing everyone, but the bedeviled children.
Intriguing and entertaining movie. It leaves the viewers with many questions but tickles the imagination. I really liked the movie, exceptional for a Dutch production.
started out great but soon descended into a spiral of crazy sprinkled with boredom.
Some writers are just to lazy. People who hated prometheus for not explaining itself enough might get cancer from watching this movie. (I like prometheus btw)
Weird and fun and interesting, but a bit too self-conscious in its weirdness, and either too explicit or not explicit enough about how much of it is a representation of the wife's mental state.
Some really interesting stuff. The idea of taking an ancient myth and putting it into modern reality/making a cautionary tale for adults is super cool. The performances were good, and some of the imagery was seriously unnerving. Unfortunately it didn't have much of an effect though because the movie is way too long, leaving such pointless drags between the tense moments that it doesn't build. I still recommend it.
No disfruto el cine de este hombre, no me gusta su estilo de cinematografía y encuentro su obra tremendamente confusa y nada interesante.
