Bring It On Reviews

Great light hearted movie. Typical teenage cheerleader scenario with a few comedic twists.

Good overall movie. Kirsten Dunst is appealing. No one would believe the Hispanic cheerleader is threatening. One slap and she would run home.

they explained how they got their routine and yet 10 minutes later I had to ask how they got their routine

Bring It On Is Cheer Tastic For Torrance & Missy!!!

Bringing in the new millennium, it sets the tone for teen cinema of the 2000s. It's quirky and corny dialogue either sparks nostalgia or shock. I did find myself checking the time to see when it was going to end. The nostalgia alone isn't enough to hold your attention. It's a light chessy high school storyline with some laughable moments. The choreography of the competition saves it though. Did it age well? Not so much.

This movie shows what it was really like in the 2000s to go to college. The actor choices are perfect. It's an important as mean girls for the time. Early Kristen Dunst? Um hello. It's so great in terms of music casting and plot. I've seen this movie hundreds of times. I absolutely love it!

Classic. Honestly this movie deserves a higher rating. It's in the same league as Mean Girls or Pitch Perfect.

Bring it On is a feel good teen sports comedy with great young actress, good script that would recognize from that film and directing from the same director of Ant-Man trilogy and Spy and it should definitely an instinct cult classic teen film for everybody.

Probably the most overrated teen movie I've ever seen. It's so slow and drawn out.

Over 20 years old. I’m glad I actually liked this one a lot. Still can't believe it was 2 years before Spider-Man and directed by Peyton Reed who did Ant-Man. Starring Kirsten Dunst, Eliza Dushku, and Gabrielle Union. Torrance is in high school and a bonafide cheerleader. A cheerleading competition is underway and their rivals are the Clovers. But there’s a problem as it turns out they’re accused of stealing their routine. So they recruit a newcomer called Missy. Her brother, Cliff has a crush on Torrance even though she has a boyfriend who’s very dismissive. The Tauros cheerleaders have to come up with a new routine or face disqualification. A lot of pressure is put on Torrance to either succeed or fail. The movie is so much fun to rewatch over and over again as it opens a new world of cheer most don’t know about. It’s highly competitive and a battlefield when it comes to judging and performance. There’s lots of quotable lines, great cheer choreography, and a hip soundtrack. The California setting makes it vibrant as well. There’s an effective education on cultural appropriation in the world of cheerleading particularly with black excellence, beauty, creativity, and it confronted the audiences preconceived notions about the sport. This was also my first introduction to Eliza Dushku. This isn’t another chick flick if you’re worried about that; it’s massively fun with a fresh script and cheer worthy performances by Dunst, Dushku, and Union. They manage to make cheerleading very funny and interesting.

Still holds up after 20+ years, thanks largely to its strong cast. The acting is good, the story is good, and it moves along at a good pace. The three leading ladies really brought it though, they were cast perfectly, and that powerhouse trio is ultimately what keeps the movie so good after all these years.

Not my type of movie but I enjoyed it. It is better than 3 stars but I can't really recommend it unless you like high school semi-sports movies.

One of the most quoted movies when I was in school and I had never seen it. It's not bad at all. Great fun, I think holds up pretty well

I only watched this movie cause I have a crush on Eliza Dushku. It was a lot funnier then I could have ever imagined. Who would of thought a cheer leader movie could be this entertaining. I liked it, it was actually a good movie.

This should be held in the same high regard as Clueless as the best teen comedies, and satires, of the 90s. Has aged flawlessly, and taught me a lot about cultural appropriation a kid. The lead trio of Dunst, Union, and Dushku are incredible. My 5 star review is 100% serious, this movie deserves it.

The early 2000s seemed to be the golden era for teen pop culture, particularly movies. "Bring It On" is an example of that. It manages to combine the cheesy humour of its time with a simple story, characters, great choreography and some commentary without coming across as preachy.
