Bubba Ho-Tep Reviews
I think this is a sweet, sentimental, fun little supernatural B movie. Fans of Campbell will enjoy, despite it's sometimes weak antics.
I love Bruce but man, what a stinker. Slow, bad writing, bad editing, visual effects were definitely B quality but not enough of them. Storyline was weaker than a zombies math skills and the quirky fun parts weren't quirky or fun. Just dumb. Bad bad bad. Don't watch. Sorry Bruce. You phoned it in.
Hjula løsner og ramler av etterhvert, men det er aldri snakk om å avbryte.
Funny, cynical, poignant, artfully campy schlock. Memorable performances by Ozzie and Bruce.
Ossie is the GOAT. Bruce is OK too.
I wasn't prepared for how much I genuinely enjoyed this masterpiece of campy, low budget, horror comedy with dashes of rather insightful criticism of the culture of aging.
My favorite Bruce Campbell movie outside of the Evil Dead series
Bubba Ho-Tep is one of the best Bruce Campbell performance since original evil dead as a impersonator old Elvis Presley who has cancer along with Ossie Davis as JFK against a mummy in a very well made comedy horror film and truly outstanding make-up effects by KNB effects.
LOL, the funniest 01 hour: and 32 minutes that parodies JFK and Elvis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This movie is cornball pulp horror & I loved it. Lifetime watch: 3 times
A truly unique not quite horror film that is elevated by a dynamic western soundtrack, atmospheric direction, and a poignant performance from Bruce Campbell.
Real good laughs. Definitely one of Bruce's best
C'è Bruce Campbell C'è una mummia. Ci sono un sacco di discussioni sull'infezione al...pube...del personaggio di Campbell e sul come le mummie ti succhino l'anima dal posteriore. Che dire gli ingredienti perfetti per una bella serata
A geriatric Elvis Presley and a black JFK on a wheelchair versus an Egyptian cowboy mummy? Hell yeah! Cue the man, the myth, the legend, Bruce Campbell, as well as great lines of dialogue, a fun backstory and some surprisingly mournful reflections on infirmity, old age, the trappings of fame, abandonment, death and what one leaves behind, and "Bubba Ho-Tep" is proven an arresting watch. A little less narration and a little more suspense and horror would have helped it reach its full potential.
Ozzie Smith as JFK 👍
Just as goofy as the title and premise promise. It's a "take your brain out and watch" type of movie, but it's also genuinely funny.
This is a very weird and pretty funny movie with an unfortunately high number of ideas squeezed in. The concept of a bunch of old people living in a retirement home believing they are some famous person and/or the victim of a ridiculous conspiracy theory is excellent, and the movie shines when it focuses on these jokes and ideas. Unfortunately, the idea of an undead mummy who sucks your soul out through your asshole, while kind of funny on its own, just bloats this movie with a little more silliness than it really needed. Bruce Campbell (yes, that one) and Ossie Davis are wonderfully funny when they're left to meddle around the nursing home and swap conspiracy theories, but not so much when they're battling supernatural creatures. The dialogue is generally really funny, it's just a shame that there's really not that much of it. There are also some interesting ideas on aging and the value of elderly life, but again, these never really get time to be developed because we spend so much time on dumb mummy stuff. This is kind of a fun and silly cult movie with some really funny parts and then a lot of slogging through silly tropes which don't add much. It's probably worth a watch just for its uniqueness.
Less funny but also more charming and poignant that I expected.
