A heartbreaking drama of the ghosts created from the injustice and hatred of the world impacting generation after generation. A worthy and notable legacy sequel that should not be missed.

I loved the original and can honestly say, there’s nothing about this remake that is memorable. Nothing like the original and no effort was put into making it dark and creepy like the classic first film.

Growing up as a kid from Chicago I was terrified of handyman but this movie doesn’t give me that same feeling of nostalgia and fear I felt many years ago

“Candyman” (2021) may not replicate the iconic impact of Rose’s original, but it is a highly faithful and thematically powerful continuation.

I just watch candyman 2021 on netflix before it gets removed and oh boy was it not what I was expecting... I really wanted to like it. I thought it was gonna be a good 1h30 movie but I didn't like it . After 30 min I was wondering where Tony Todd was gonna appear but I kept waiting and waiting... I wasn't invested in the movie like I was watching the original years ago but I still give it a chance and watched it completely but I didn't enjoy it. I liked a couple of scenes but I found myself just waiting for tony todd to appear but it didn't happen until the last 2 minutes and still the cgi face threw me off xD... not only that I didn't really like the plot it could've been good, it just wasn't executed very well it's all over the place. Anthony get stung by a bee and start hallucinating in the mirror he start seeing himself as the candyman. At some point his body start to "transform" into like a zombie beehive idk it looked cool. There's like beehive pattern in his neck before it start to just look like holes. But why did he waited until his hand started to rot before going into the hospital. Like after 1 day his hands was not looking good why didn't he got it checked out? why nobody notice it ? Was it all in his mind ? If so why his mother sees his wounds?. Alot of thing didn't make sense and the acting was alright but I really think something was missing especially the art gallery guy. He was way too calm after witnessing the neck of the girl been slit. The kills were simple but bloody and the special effects were ok but the cgi in the mirror at the critic's when she's in the bathroom it just looked weird and at the end... I know candyman is a supernatural beeing so he isn't supposed to age but idk it just looked bad. I wouldn't have mind a older candyman maybe he's weaker so he looked older idk... I just found it boring tbh. I thought it needed something more. Idk... I loved the first one and I wasn't expecting a movie as good but still a good time but it just didn't go nowhere. I think it all should've been condense into 30 min as a intro and then candyman (tony todd) start killing people and I don't know where the plot could've go but I'm sure they could've make something interesting and more scary. I just wanted a good violent slasher with the candyman voice and esthetic. It just wasn't scary or intense I didn't jump nor felt scared at all. The original wasn't super scary either but the atmosphere and story were pretty good. Final thoughts: A couple of kills were cool like the art gallery the fact that you only see him in the mirrors was cool but after that I wanted to see him more and hear his voice I love tony todd portrayalin the original and I just wanted more. Overall boring and just didn't make sense. Felt too socially critical even if it's part of the candyman origins I think it could've been implemented better into the story and feel more authentic and sincere. Needed more atmosphere, better storyline and maybe more kills or at least more stressful moments the one that are there don't feel tense at all at least for me. Maybe the start when the kid sees Sherman in the hole in the wall I though it was candyman younger played by another actor and the kid was gonna get killed I thought was cool but after that I was disappointed. I don't really recommend. I don't think I will or need to re-watch it maybe someday but for know It just didn't click with me.

#Pro: * The connection between horror and bringing up the past and the art world is a cool angle. Similar to "Velvet Buzzsaw" but different enough to not be derivative. #Con: * Some dialog felt very "this is how millennials talk as described by someone who hates millennials". #Thing I can't decide if it's a pro or con: * The whole shadow puppet thing as a narrative. I guess it's cool in premise but felt like it could have been better executed.

It was cool so far from the original though but still a great showing!

Effective storytelling and a load of good slasher kills. Colman Domingo was way underutilized and needed a much larger role.

It was different than the original, fresher approach, still gory as the original, which is scary,I didn't like the cartoonist characters, but I would watch again to really get into it

A modern take on a classic film that expands on its predecessor without stepping on its toes.

Completely new take on this infamous "monster." Intriguing shadow puppets add to the artistry. The alternate ending is likely how the next version will begin.

As someone that is all for African American rights and appalled by the way they are treated by the law. I still managed to find this movie fruitless and mundane. The original was light years better.

Am I missing something... How does it have 4 out of 5 stars lol. I'm sorry but that was trash. Maybe I've seen one too many horror films, but that. That I found it predictable, random and just boring. I mean if I watched that in the cinema I would of either walked out or fell asleep. It was very flat, lack of characters, the story just didn't mesh well for me. I just couldn't get into it. I watched it all but didn't enjoy it. It took a long time to even see any official action. I feel like the film was erm on the low budget side, because was it just me but the scene when the what they're calling the erm candy man baby was in the ladys (forgot her name because I didn't care enough to store any names in my brain) house talking about his art and the murders and she went to the toilet and he was looking in the mirror WOW those graphics so so so bad. It looked like a computer game like something out of old school gta (grand theft auto) a character from that. Just awful. What a waste of time out of my life that i'll never get back smh. They could have done so much with that what a waste. Some old movies just DO NOT need to be re made. THIS was one of those movies fr.

Tony Todd cameo at the end was the icing on top.
