I personally liked the film. The Cat looked cool. But it differentiated too much from the plot.
So underrated, so funny, and the ending's heartwarming
Honestly this movie is one of my favorites, sure it has crude jokes and this movie is why theres no more live action Dr. Seuss movies, but those jokes that went over my head as a kid and the humor of the early 2000's is what makes it so memorable, if you were a kid in the early 2000's then its probably a classic for you. the movie is about fun and just that, and this movie is the embodiment of such ideas, so if you're looking for a truly fun movie with good early 2000's humor and fun, this is the movie for you.
This is one of my favourite films ever. The jokes are top tier and Micheal Meyers is one of the funniest men to ever grace this planet. Give me a sequel!
The Cat in The Hat movie adds another beautiful crystal gem to Dreamworks's crown with it's amazing voice acting, and hilarious to bizarre jokes. I just don't understand why people hate this movie! They should be ashamed of themselves!
The movie is very fun for kids but bad for teens and adults
The only way I could possibly enjoy this film was in spite of its poor quality. Seriously - it was a good call they never greenlit another live action Dr. Seuss adaptation after this truly poor excuse for a movie. I may have been able to have my fun with this movie for about the first 20 minutes or so, but it goes away almost immediately afterwards. Not to mention, you have A-list actors giving C-level performances at best - not even Mike Myers and all his comedic talent could salvage this film. Also, with all of the adult jokes thrown into this supposedly family-friendly film, who was its target audience. anyway? Admittedly, however, it's not as bad as "The Love Guru", but this is still unforgivable. I'd rather watch the live-action "Grinch" again, as it was way better anyway.
Not a faithful adaptation of the beloved book by Dr. Seuss. It's filled with double entendres, sexual references and content that does NOT belong in a film that is based off a children's book.
Extremely trippy movie! Better than modern Family Guy.
I really cannot say how this would have landed with me in 2003. Probably not at all. But I'm currently watching this with my 4 year old at his request. For context, he's in Dr. Seuss week at daycare. I wish I knew what was going on in his head right now. I'm flabbergasted as an adult viewer. It's like a fever dream. I'm honestly glad it's not dark out. To be fair, the beginning of the movie showed promise. Alec Baldwin was bringing it as the smarmy neighbor who is dating Kelly Preston as the mom, whose oversexualization was comfortably over my kid's head. Dakota Fanning is clearly a very competent actress. But from the moment Mike Myers appeared, it has been borderline unwatchable. From what I gather the Cat in the Hat is an old vaudeville comedian who practices some sort of Freddie Kreuger mind-alteration sorcery to bewitch two children into participating in his one man variety show, which is stream of consciousness nonsense. Oh yeah and there's a really unappealing and neurotic CGI fish that adds nothing. I would say this borders uncomfortably close to a horror movie. Be cautious watching this movie if you are on paranoia inducing drugs or feeling feverish.
One of the most underrated movies of all time! A true masterpiece!

This film is underrated, underappreciated, and way ahead of its time! Amazing film with a malevolent cat, a bratty boy and a goody-two-shoes girl as the main characters!
This movie is insanely underrated and is not as bad as people say it is. Was it bad when it came out? Oh heck yes. But now watching it when I'm not a 7 year old, I can confidently say that this IS the best movie to come out in 2003.
