It’s a great movie for smaller kids. That is what this rating refers to. They will love it and the adults watching it with them will be mildly amused as well. There is really nothing bad to be said about that movie at all.

We like seeing cartoons get hurt, not actual dogs. There's cartoony fun and then there's cruelty.

terrible acting, bad plot very cringe imo

Horrible CGI and story

This is clever on it's own mainly for the younger audience. Clever as Cats vs Dogs could go but the plot is a little half-baked. Voice acting isn't bad, not gonna lie. If the humans weren't included, this movie would've gotten a higher score for me. Although, it's still clever as the concept, as well as some of the jokes and story. 5/10.

The plot is not bad, but not the best either, the graphics are fine, especially considering the pitiful budget of 60 million dollars.

something about it just was fun

It's Bad. There are tons of nuance problems. The bizarre out of place acting of Jeff Goldblum and the over the top acting of the villain. The mother isn't good, the kid is generic, Lou and Butch are ok and everyone else ranges from really bad to forgettable. However this is dominated by the bizarre acting of the bizarre characters like the maids, russian cat, Goldblum, and the villain that just completely overshadow everything else. The music isn't good either being very out of place and never striking a consistent tone, ranging from cartoony to over the top to sentimental. The editing and pacing are terrible as well all thanks to the atrocious cinematography and out of place bad CGI and other special effects and settings. On top of that this film doesn't have enough quiet moments like the sentimental moments when the boy & Lou bond which are actually good and the best scenes in the movie. Problem is its only 3% of the runtime, and the rest it never stops with the ridiculousness. The jokes are terrible as well. But all this pales in comparison to the two main problems. First this should have been an animated movie and a lot of the out of place effects and scenes would've looked less out of place and bizarre and more creative and charming. Second is the obnoxious direction and tone this has. This feels like it's trying to be a cartoon and a Sam Raimi feature but can't make the two aspects ever work together. Seriously, skip this. It's not a terrible idea if it had been done animated with a better director, but it's a bad live action movie.

Too many unfunny jokes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dec 30, 2020

It's super ridiculous. It's honestly so bad that it's good. The Directing is pretty terrible. The Acting is bad but that's pretty much cuz it's supposed to be. This is for 4 and under kids. But honestly I low key enjoyed this movie more than I should have.

Hit or miss for some. Loads of young humor. Good concept!

The pervasive thought I had sitting through this movie was that it was a sci-fi reimagining of My Dog Skip from the year prior. That said, the voice actors were well-chosen & I felt the $60M budget was well-spent as the CGI was very good. I think the plot could've been improved on and deeply appreciated that the toilet humor wasn't overwhelming, and the jokes intended for parents were well-hidden. I didn't have the luxury of my 6-year-old watching this with me to gauge his appreciation, but the premise was setup very early on and there were no real twists, causing the journey from learning the evil plan to foiling it to feel like a slog. The film score was good.
