Cat's Eye Reviews
a very short anthology film but an original piece of work by Stephen King 40 years later all 3 stories center around a cat that goes from place to place witnessing one horrific event to the next the first story is about what happens to a smoker when he ignores quitting more than he should, the second story involves the consequences of adultery as well as greed, and the final story is the dangers of a small child's imagination Drew Barrymore at a young age actually makes quite a few appearances in all of them the last story in my opinion is the most imaginative cause it feels very Speilberg-ish with a monstrous troll plus there are a lot of nods to his previous works and it clearly shows a timekiller of a movie
"Cat's Eye" is a campy and fun blend of comedy and horror from Stephen King. This movie is a three-part anthology movie with each story being crazier than the last. I do feel I liked the first story in this the most, and usually with anthology movies it is tough for me to like them all equally. I still think each short story had an element of zaniness that was enjoyable. Overall, it was fun to check out a movie that Stephen King himself wrote the screenplay for and I found myself admiring the creativity on display, even though not every story hit the mark completely for me.
What was going on there? Surely just finger exercises by the grandmaster. These episodes are certainly not to be categorised as horror (the first one is the closest), they are not humorous and they are not exciting. So that's a better way to spend your time.
More a collection of TWILIGHT ZONE-type oddities than anything truly suspenseful or terrifying, this admittedly dated film is still quite watchable, even if only on a purely nostalgic level or just to see Drew Barrymore when she was knee high to a grasshopper . The second segment is easily the best for me and actually does build a bit of tension, especially for those of us who are afraid of heights. Those of you children of the 80s glued to HBO will likely remember this quite fondly.
A cat is witness to several stories with limited role. In the last story, the cat is sort of a hero. The stories are not bad, but a series of disjointed stories do not feel like a movie. The cat is placed in the first series of stories in such a silly way with no clear intention or purpose. It's sort of a prop. The last story is more of a story in which the role of the cat is clear, and there are good scenes. But all in all, not that good of a movie
Like the modern day the 80's were a time full of Stephen King adaptations with 'Cat's Eye' dropping in 1985. SYNOPSIS: 'A stray cat is the linking element of three tales of suspense and horror.' 'Cat's Eye' is pure Stephen King bizarro world which is even more enthralling if you're a fan of his works. This film also seems to set up the concept of Easter eggs within films before that was even a thing. See how many references you find! It brims with understated artistry even though it screams of corny 80s special effects which are hard on the eye. Although the stories don't really connect the roster of acting talent can only be celebrated, with Drew Barrymore in only her second film role. A campy classic! 6/10
This is currently on HBO Max. Absolute rubbish. The stories almost seem like Twilight Zone skits that were duct taped together. Ultimately lacking in any coherence or meaning or sense.
It's hard to turn Stephen King novels into good movies...especially in the 80s. The little creature in the wall was kinda funny - but the cat didn't tie the stories together for me.
One of the most interesting movies that I have ever seen that deals with people quitting smoking, monsters underneath the bed, and insane husbands..... definitely a memorable time.
A fun piece of popcorn entertainment for thriller/horror.
None of the stories are great or even good.
Not the best Stephen King adaptation, but Cat's Eye is fun to watch. The performances carry the movie as it jumps from one story to the next.
It's got corn all over it, but that about sums up our thirst of the 80s and our love/admiration for the young drew barrymore.
Not sure why I've always found this to be lesser King, it's lots of fun. It's not the scariest or most twisted anthology, but it's a great spooky film for the whole family. Some segments are really funny, and some feature some really memorable imagery.
I was gonna give this movie more then 2 stars but decided to go with 2 stars. Not scary but a mash up of different kind of odd/creepy stories all rolled into 1 movie, very 80's and if a fan of this type of movie where they have segments you'll like this one.The best segment and must popular in my opinion is the guy goes to quit smoking and they are mob people great one, good decent movie.
Not scary in the least, but these aren’t meant to be! They are fantastic stories that are entertaining! You can tell they were making a fun movie that’s just so worth rewatching! The acting is very well done here! When it comes to Carrie,Misery, and The Shining ,it doesn’t hold a candle to those three, but it is still a classic nonetheless! Stephen King wrote the screen play for Cats Eye ,and in my opinion did a fantastic job!
Dude, awesome flick! I was already a huge King fan, and I love the anthology...I challenge you to find a movie with digital effects that looks better...the classics will always be better. Not only that, but I challenge you to find a better cat actor! 5 freaking stars!
