Caveat Reviews

Apr 17, 2025

I lost my interest after 15 minutes.

It has some intense, unexpected jump scares but lacks in character development.

This movie is so good! The opening scene genuinely scared me! The rabbit is creepy and cool. This is a must watch for horror and thriller fans.

It has the tone and follow through of a Playstation 2 Horror game. I liked it though.

One of the creepiest movies I’ve seen in a very long time

Points for a creepy atmosphere, demerits for a disappointing story.

Simple and slow but has some good moments

Great! Interesting concept and execution. Looking forward to seeing more from this filmmaker

I have watched atleast 100+ horror movies, and every classic. This was the scariest one. Ofcourse there are some that can be changed, but out of all of the horror movies i have watched, this one tops THEM ALL. If i could give % it would be a 94% rating.

Very unique situations and setting in this film. It was eerie throughout but the best bits happen in the final 10 minutes. I've heard a lot about this director's other film and wanted to check out the former title first. Very curious to see what's next!

Why didn't he get the key when he used the phone? Why didn't he call the police instead of the uncle- the police could trace the location. Why was the last 30 minutes so darkly lit? What happened to the rabbit?

This movie is extremely underrated. It’s the first horror movie in years that actually freaked me out! It gave me a serious sense of dread and jump scares! Definitely worth a higher rating than it has.

More confounding than creepy, Caveat is a well-shot and acted film, but one that suffers from a lack of any explanation in regards to the very random supernatural aspect of the plot, and the convoluted nature of the film's story. It's not a bad movie, and it's not a good movie; it's just fine.

It is a creepy spine-tingler, there's no doubt about it, and it lands some superb jump scenes in support of this. The claustrophobic, mouldy, dimly-lit, limited soundscaped setting is perfect. It suffers from McCarthy's lack of experience, and some gaping plot holes, meaning the already slightly confused story arc doesn't quite deliver the end result it really could have done. Overall, what a debut from McCarthy! One to watch, for sure

This movie was horrifyingly good. Loved the story and setting. The secrets and lies are part of what makes this movie great. Tim Treakle

Loved this movie. Atmospheric, mysterious, low-key, clever, creepy, and some of the most genuinely frightening aesthetics I've seen that competes only with Evil Dead.

very creepy start to finish. lots of loose ends towards the end but either way I was nervous the whole time and thats what I like

Literally what??? Overreliance on soundtrack, and even that was barely serviceable. Tries to do so many things with the plot, set up so many possibilities only to fulfill none of them.

This movie is worthy of watching many times. Absolutely brilliant. Not only is it wonderfully creepy, but the plot is highly complex. I think after my first watch, I didn't fully grasp this tight-nit thriller. It is so rare that a film really gives you a thrill here and there, and the more I understood the film and the motives of each character, the more and more I liked it. Audiences are stupid, but if you appreciate a clever creeper, "buy it" because you're going to want to watch it more than once.
