Centurion Reviews
Yes, it's gory. But that's history folks. Varus' lost 3 legions in an ambush in the woods of Germany; well documented by contemporary historians. They may not have used tumbling fireballs, but the swarming tribes of Germans were probably a lot like the bloodthirsty Picts of this movie. If you want a fairy tale, watch the Pompeii movie; if you want something more realistic, watch this.
Michael Fassbender is wasted in this. He acted the hell out of it but they gave him no story or anything. Not good at all. Fire the director.
A great movie for those fans of the genre. I thoroughly enjoyed its run time with a rewarding ending. Realistic gore and effects help carry the movie along as well as realistic scenarios and injuries.
Roteiro: Bom roteiro Vale apena assistir? So much potential. They let us down. Weak ending. Go true dark, or go home. After the bs assasination attempt, don't try to salvage a happy ending. Say what you wanted to say. Then roll credits. Don't try to beg forgiveness from your audience afterwards. My 2 cents.
The action was pretty good but there were so many moments that take you out of the film such as Roman soldiers with spears through them managing to fight and kill people and some others with crazy injuries. That can be looked over easily though. The worst part of the film is that they portrayed the invaders as the good guys and the people defending their country as ruthless and evil subhumans. Was waiting for the part where it shows they are the bad guys but it never comes, so disappointed
I saw this movie twice so I must have liked it. The action was good and the scenery and props were excellent. I found it a little unbelievable the Picture guide having such great fighting skills. The ending was perfect.
Corny, predictable script. Bland acting. Fantasy weapons and costumes (he is a tribesman so he must have worn fur, right.). It could have been so much better. One of those films that is only worth watching if you have nothing better to do, like the laundry or mowing the lawn.
I'm a Roman History buff. And this is semi-accurate portrayal of Agricola's drive into what is now Scotland. They were known as the Picts (Scott highlanders) and the Roman's never did fully take the highlands. He did drive further to the north than any other Roman. Keep in mind this was "the end of the world". I happen to be Scotch so I tended to pull for the Picts but a great historical fiction movie based in fact. The portrayal of the Picts isn't very accurate. They actually wore mohawks in many cases like native Americans. The blue Woad and their fighting style is pretd ty accurate. But the writer borrowed from the slaughter of Augustus Caesar's in the Teutoburg forest which didn't happen in Scotland (Caledonia) at the time. But in Germany. Anyway, you don't have to be a Roman history buff to like this movie. Highly recommend this to Roman or antiquity history fans.
So much talent in this movie wasted. The plot was meh but so so is Gladiator. What Gladiator does so well though is make you invested in the characters and there is a climax that pays off so well. Centurion is a hot mess with so many actors and actresses wasted to a hot mess. From editing to character development this movie is made for tv. Such a waste.
A movie that kept me entertained with a group of Romans being hunted liked dogs from a vengeful Britain. Good acting, good script, and good directing what more could you want from a medieval movie?
A historical fiction rendition of the battles between the Romans and Picts in the North of Britain, Centurion features authentic sets and costumes, excellent acting, interesting characters, and brutally violent battle scenes (his horror bonafides clearly come through here). It's clear why he got the nod to direct a bunch of Games of Thrones episodes. Michael Fassbender is excellent as always, and he's rounded out by a solid cast including Dominick West, Liam Cunningham, Imogen Poots and Riz Ahmed. Olga Kurylenko as the mute Pict Etain is a standout -- striking in her war paint and deadly as a GoT Sand Snake. Marshall transitioned to 온라인카지노추천 after Centurion bombed at the box office, although whether that is why I don't know. But he contributed to some high quality series beyond GoT, including Hannibal, Westworld,, and Black Sails. I suppose I should give his Hellboy a re-watch (of which I do not have fond memories), and his latest The Reckoning (of which the star is his fiance and has an awful lot of controversy surrounding her).
The daemonic character of Etain is really scary and the lead role of Quintus Dias is one you keep fingers crossed for. And the movie is visually amazing!
Solidly entertaining despite the questionable plot twists towards the middle of the movie that leave you scratching your head.
Tired, predictable and thoroughly generic
Another movie on what happened to Rome's 9th Legion, however it is far better than"The Eagle." Good acting, realistic sets and gorgeous cinematography of the highlands of Scotland. A lot of action and even some female bad asses. I really enjoyed it however if you're like my spouse who hates blood or cursing turn it off.
To think the majority of professional critics gave this dumb, dumb movie a favorable review is, frankly, outrageous and quite disappointing. (Spoiler ahead): How did Fassbender escape his captivity? No clue. Why didn't the Romans bury the helmet while they were on the run? Why make the arch villain a cute, sexy girl with dark eye makeup, who's mute? How did the mute chick communicate with, well, anybody? Why did the mute save Fassbender? Why didn't the mute smell three, stinking men when she entered the hut? Why didn't we get to see the wolves fighting the black guy? Why did the last guy (excepting Fassbender) go nuts and gallop into an arrow? Why did Fassbender blame the guy for killing the chief's son? If the kid had not been killed, he would have kept yelling and given away the Romans. Dumb, dumb movie. The majority of critics should be ashamed.
A historic but bloodlust tale this action is a well made movie that is worth watching and one of the better Swords and Sandals movies to come out from Gladiator's legacy
Landscape is shown off beautifully, but the acting is often wooden and what could have been a very good film is just a bit of a gore fest with stereotypical characters and tropes. Not one for the history buffs. The outfits are ridiculous and the fighting is just outrageously disorganised. I can never really get to grips with seeing Roman legionaries break off from a shield wall into one-on-one battles, and strikes aimed at each other's swords rather than at the target.
Well shot and produced. Some dramatic scenery. Fight scenes are gory. Watchable not great. The quality of the filming carries it through. I would say 6/10 is a fair score.
