Claire's Knee, with its lucidity, bittersweet wit, unpredictable characters and tight directorial control, is certainly a rare bird among modern movies...

Claire's Knee is about desire, which is a timeless theme, and about how we justify acting on our desires, which is a very timely one.

Claire's Knee is a movie for people who still read good novels, care about good films, and think occasionally.
| Original Score: 4/4 | Oct 23, 2004
Rohmer somehow makes it work. He creates a feeling for his people, makes their seemingly silly conversations dramatic. His is a movie completely concerned with nuances.

Touching and funny.

Comes very close to being a perfect movie of its kind.
| Original Score: 5/5 | May 20, 2003
Somewhere between insulting and repulsive, Claire's Knee purports to be about love but comes across as little more than infantile.
