Clerks III Reviews
Spoilers ahead! I’m a big fan of clerks 1 and 2. But they didn’t have to go so dark with the story line for clerks 3. If certain actors didn’t fit the budget there were other ways of limiting their screen time that doesn’t involve killing them off. A separation would have been sufficient. Also killing off a main character also unnecessary. I wanted to think they all lived happily ever after. Could have been fun and sentimental but not dark.
Such a good movie delivers on the laughter sat dow thinking I was about to get a classic Kevin Smith comedy which i did but i was not expecting an emotional ending to be completely honest didn’t see it coming and was so gutted by it.
Best sequel to a film since T2! The original was brilliant, but to turn around and make a 3rd installment of such emotional depth after all of the dick and fart jokes blows my Jersey-lovin’ mind. This is an absolutely perfect movie that adds so much to the whole story and to see the nostalgia, behind-the-scenes gags, and trying in making a movie on their lives was done so well. You might even want to keep some tissues nearby!
As a long-time fan of Clerks I, II & some of Kevin Smith's earlier work, I thought I'd give the third installment a view. The Jay and Silent Bob reboot was horrible, and I am a huge fan of the first one. So, I went into this expecting one last outrageous and irreverent visit to the Quick Stop. And there was some of that, yes. But it felt more like an afterschool special. Sappy and sentimental. And that's okay, I suppose; it just wasn't what I was expecting. It feels entirely out of place alongside characters spitting in customers' faces and donkey shows. It didn't really earn its right to be taken seriously and that's what it attempts to do. So, it might tug as some people's heart strings and have an emotional impact, but to me it just felt out of place. Just imagine if "Ace Ventura" had another sequel with modern-day (mostly-now-serious) Jim Carrey and it was serious, thoughtful and had emotional depth. That would be crazy. Now, Smith has a long track record of self-indulgent material, nostalgia and self-referential scripts, so it's probably what I should have expected but it did catch me off guard.
The movie was heartbreaking but a great movie about friendship and platonic love
No, I don’t buy it, this was supposed to be a joke, and now they get serious, sorry but too late I’m not here for that.
Holy crap this is one of the best/saddest endings to a trilogy I love that I've ever seen. Anyone who likes clerks should definitely watch
It's one of the few movies that I would have preferred to not watch. It's not terrible but it goes in a direction that leaves the series on a sour note that I would have preferred to not have seen. Went in ok and left depressed.
It's not comedy any more, they advertise it being a funny movie... but its not. Its a dead serious movie with mourning and death. That aside, the movie use cheapness like overly lot of flash back and moments from the other movies. After the other clerks movie I was expecting another movie to laugh at, but not this one, this one leaves you in tears, its pure emotional drama about death. Its the perfect movie to watch to get in the mood to kill yourself...
I really wanted to love this one but I just didn't. I feel like the subversive ending for Dante was very unfulfilling. They build an interesting tale of a man dealing with grief and moving on to just betray it. I didn't find it as funny as the first 2 parts or even the cartoon. I just found it lacking and emotionally manipulative but not in a good way.
Movie # 1534 This unexpectedly hit me in the feels. Hard.
I found Clerks III to be uninteresting and boring. A real remember when festival that celebrates itself but instead of celebrating characters, it just acts like two Member Berries from South Park. Clerks III could easily be called Clerks III : Member Berries. Go watch the South Park episode instead. It is 1000% more entertaining and pretty sure that was idea behind this movie.
This is the Rocky 5 of the Clerks series. It's more like a sad drama.
This one taps all emotions. You get hit with the nostalgia, then you laugh your ass off, then you cry, then you laugh again.
I gave this a go and a try and unlike Clerks, (8.5 out of 10) and Clerks 2, (a 6.5), this one just is so darn slow so had to give up on it, sorry. The first song was a good choice but those doofus's and all the church silly stuff was really boring me and that acting was so bad by them. Not good choices made by Smith on them. With so many movies to watch and to catch up on, I may never get back to this one sorry to report and I really liked the 1st Clerks big time and Mallrats was also an 8.5!
This was a weird movie. Its lows are low but its highs are the highest in the series. Is it funny? Not really. In fact it's often actively unfunny. Is it well made? No. There are some weird editing choices, some weird framing, a lot of subpar acting... But the emotional weight of its 3rd act was something truly special, and it pretty much absolves the film of all its sins. I can't in good conscience give it 5 stars, there's just too much wrong with it. But if you're a Clerks fan, you owe it to yourself to see it.
It's no Clerks II, but had a couple moving moments. Not funny of course.
Kevin Smith used to be one of my favorite directors, but it's been a series of diminishing returns since his original 3 films. This is at the bottom. Everything just felt old, dated, and angry. The only "comedy" present was all just a rehashing of the best parts of the previous films. If I wasn't over the "nostalgia genre" before, I certainly am now.
100% recomendada mi gente en lo personal me encanto 😊
I'll preface this review that I'm a huge fan of Clerks/View Askew universe. Clerks 2 has been my comfort movie for years and always tends to put a smile on my face. HOWEVER, Clerks 3 barely did that. What it did instead of put tears in my eyes. It's beautifully written about loss, love, and the end of life. Brian O'Halloran and Jeff Anderson both put on performances that is going to be overlooked because of the film being what it is. If you are looking to have some laughs watching a movie, skip this one. But if you're a fan of the franchise, want to see how this could possibly be it for the franchise, or if you want cry the rest of the day away, this is the movie for you.
