Clockstoppers Reviews

Feb 23, 2025

This movie is much better than people give it credit for. Yes, it's a corny early 2000's movie, but it was made for preteens/young teens. I absolutely loved it as a kid, and now it holds a lot of nostalgia for me

I WISH I Could give this. 0 stars. Cause this, is a cashgrab. Now, I'm not a fan of Nickelodeon Movies, but this movie is the bottom of the barrel. Do NOT Watch Clockstoppers under any circumstances.

Biggest problem is I realized they don't even stop time so the name is flase advertising. The acting isn't that good. The main character is a bumbling idiot geek half the time with cheesy lines. At times the line delivery is too fast for some reason and makes scenes feel rushed especially at the start. The acting also is very cheesy and over the top with its delivery. The worst part is the flat to terrible humor rampant throughout this. Bad slapstick, dog pee, bad puns, and just dumb jokes that are unneeded and make everything feel watered down. Also, the black friend is completely useless and contributes nothing to the plot. The cinematography isn't that good either. Basic Camerawork, bleh special effects which is a big letdown for a cool idea, and just dumb visual gags constantly. They really don't do much with the cool special effects. The nitrogen is kind of farfetched and stupid looking. The slow motion is really well done just used in such stupid/boring ways. The music is ok enough but man it is super dated and screams 2000's. The editing isn't good as this tries to be a Sci-Fi Kids story and a comedy at the same time and never makes the two work together at all. Sometimes it feels like a cross between Spy Kids (especially infiltrating the base) and The Matrix with slowing time. This leads to terrible pacing as this goes from too fast at the start, to many jokes in the middle, back to incredibly boring, and it drags action scenes out for more visual gags and it never works. This feels like a 2 hour movie. It's a shame because this could be a cool idea if they would've focused on devloping the idea in a serious way instead of devoting so much time to subpar comedy. You could do some really cool editing ideas with this. There actually isn't that much slowing time either in this. It's only in about a third of the movie also which was a big letdown. Most of it is again...dumb jokes. This has potential for a remake if it has better acting and less comedy than anything. As of now, stay away from this.

Cute fun young adult flick about a kid stealing his scientist's dad his watch that can make him travel in "hypertime" so his molecules can vibrate so fast it renders him practically invisible to others.

Really cool sci-fi movie in its unique approach to time travel.

The greatest family fantasy movie ever, LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This movie has such an illustrious concept for any fan of sci-fi(stargate, Star Wars, Star Trek) simply based on the concept of a watch that speeds up time. Now you have to also love the soundtrack being the epitome of 90s punk, pop, and rock sounds. The actors did a phenomenal job, and everyone I show this movie to is shocked they hadn't heard of it. I'd say it just was poorly exposed to the public. This movie is a gem. Watch it.

Decent watch, could watch again, and can recommend, probably more for a younger audience. For a movie about technology that would make you into a speedster, you'd think this would be phenomenal. The "hyperspeed" effect itself and it's presentation in the movie is amazing, even with the "mad scientist" trope accompanying it. The cast isn't bad by far, but, for this, they could have been quite better to really sell the effects and create a better atmosphere for the story. The story itself is good, it makes a lot of sense, the character interaction is pretty good, and it actually structures a compelling narrative. It's not like the production value is bad either; this is a good example of being able to tick all the boxes and still falling short without actually failing.

An underrated sci-fi Nickelodeon film that has some pretty smooth special effects, really good acting, and a well developed story.

Thought it doesn't take full advantage of the concept, this is an undoubtedly fun, relatable teen sci-fi film that is criminally underrated.

It appealing the younger 90's generation. It has a decent concept, but is bland for the most part.

Aug 21, 2019

Despite the intriguing premise, good effects and decent performances, among them French Stewart, Clockstoppers is nothing more than your average early 2000's family comedy with a sci-fi twist thanks to a script that seems to disregard the rules established for the time-"stopping" device earlier and all that expired 2000's cheese making this Nickelodeon Movie a painfully average feature film at best.

This film was very bad.

Watched with the kids. Goofy but cute.

Nov 28, 2017

Poorly made with bad acting. It feels like a direct-to-video movie. (First and only full viewing - 1/11/2018)

I guess this movie is fine if you don't have a problem with this kind of stuff.

Mar 20, 2017

the premise of the movie was entertaining, but the movie was badly acted, even for a teen movie

Dec 1, 2016

An interesting idea but the terrible acting and visual effects ruin the movie all together.

This idea has been done to death but I enjoyed this one. Kid finds his Dad's invention that allows time to slow down and the user to speed up. Some cute gags.
