The entire time I watched this movie I was on edge. It did an amazing job creating an eerie atmosphere, and the story was amazing. I highly recommend it for horror fans!

It's entretaining, It may not be a great one...but at least it offers a Halloween-short-kind story. 🍬🎃🕷️🕸️

Short answer: Promising at the start but the ending makes you think you threw away almost an hour and a half out of your life. Long answer: (gets kinda spoily) The movie gets you hooked with a very promising story at the start...but thats about every good thing there is about it. At the middle of the movie you feel like the movie's going the way you expected but then it hits you with an unexpected plot twist. (The creators could have made an excellent ending with this twist) But then they throw in the usual killing the bad guys just because why not. My problem is not this but the fact that with the ending scene (that im not gonna spoil) they completely RUINED the film or made the last 10-15 minutes of the movie worthless. Because of it, we couldn't figure out why the parents acted the way they did throughout the whole movie even though that was the biggest mystery in the film. And the icing on the cake: the antagonist's motive was kinda shitty, her face was shown five times and because of "very good" cgi her face was different every time. All in all the movie feels like it wants to do too much but can do very very little and it's just all over the place. It isn't that scary but i promise that won't be your biggest problem. ( :

I believe this movie flew under the radar of many people and I also believe you should give it a chance if you're into horror. The camera work and the aesthetics of the movie were great. The atmosphere is gripping and it kept me interested all the way until the end. What bothered me was a hurried conclusion of the movie and the lack of an explanation of why all this was even happening. What was so wrong with Sarah?

The film actually creates a pleasant, scary atmosphere, with strong performances from the cast. I particularly liked the mother* and the protagonist**. Then comes a fall down the stairs and a broken leg, which leads to the 'house arrest' scene. And that ruins the film for me. Or to put it another way: I really didn't want that kind of twist. Then there is a second turning point, which I actually liked a lot. I just wish the film had been more consistent in its themes. They could have let the boy imagine the knocking and made him the sole culprit of the film. The short running time, a few great images and a production that is quite stylish for a new director, as well as good practical effects, actually make "Cobweb" very entertaining and make up for some of the script's weaknesses. It all depends on whether you enjoy the film or laugh at it. Similar to the better examples "Barbarian", "Malignant" and "Hereditary". *Aunt from "Sleepaway Camp" vibes **Boy from "The Babadook" vibes

The ending failed this movie

Tense and effective until the last half hour, where you won’t be able to see a thing. Turn a damn light on people.

Erm, not sure what I just watched... Cobweb is quite a mess of a movie, which is a shame because the premise was quite good. The story follows youngling Peter, an introvert, bullied kid that just wants to have a normal life. That is until he starts hearing a voice coming from the wall in his bedroom. The ultimate problem with Cobweb is that it is trying to be too many things at once. And the editing. The premise jumps from topic to topic in a frantic manner, leaving us confused — the editing helping a lot to keep us confused. Is Peter hallucinating because of what he endures? Well, is this a ghost story? No, seems to be a negative arc story...? Oh, wait, is this actually a slasher story? Too many things happen in Act I, but they are just thrown into you without clear continuity, a convoluted mess of plot points. To ramp up the weirdness of Act I, the editing is all over the place. Scenes seem to be out of order — in one scene, Peter has a bruise on his chin but later is when we see him falling and hurting it —, things happen at an incredible fast pace. It seems like the Team had to cut the movie shorter and shorter, and, with a limited time to review things, that is what we ended up with. Digging deeper into the story reveals potential but bad execution. Peter works great as the protagonist, a solid character with clear motivations and goals, but that loses himself to a lack of better development. When his arc is at its peak, it is actually his teacher that gets the job done, and the antagonistic forces. I'm leaving it as antagonistic forces to keep the suspense dangling in the air, fact is that the antagonistic forces, shortened to Antagonist for better reference, is good and plausible, a clever entry to the mix bag. Have the Director and Writer focused on the Antagonist drive, Cobweb would be saved. As it is, it is quite doomed. One fun fact for the wrong reasons is that the Brazilian Portuguese title is “Knock, knock, knock: Echoes from Beyond”, which is just bad. Cobweb fails to deliver a satisfying punch, trying too many things at once. A shame because the casting is solid, the Antagonist is well-thought, and the story has room for greatness. It felt rushed, woefully.

This is a flawed but ultimately entertaining film. I'll start by picking holes, how did she get in her car if she had lost her keys? Did she leave her car unlocked? That distracted me. Anyway it starts slow but it isn't a problem as you don't really know where the film is going and it has a great atmosphere and excellent cast. Although why did they cast the father and the principal to look the same? I thought they were the same person to start with, especially because they have the same fashion sense. There were a couple of moments where the editing and direction combined to not show quite enough to tell what was happening but you kinda got it by context. It reminded me of The People Under the Stairs (1991) but it wasn't as fun, The Babadook (2014) but not as smart and The Exorcist (1973) and It (2017) but not as scary as either. It is beautifully made but most films are like that and that doesn't stand out anymore. Half-way through the film the pace changes and it gets very engrossing. There are some very intense and great moments with some very well set up shots. The climax was entertaining although without the scale that I was expecting. The film is the perfect length, it's horrifying but not as scary as it could have been. It's a fun horror watch.

Cobweb is very creepy and unsettling. Anchored by solid performances from Lizzy Caplan, Antony Starr, Cleopatra Coleman and youngster Woody Norman, the well-paced plot slowly builds up the tension and chills. A must-see for all horror buffs, particularly those who enjoy a good 'creature feature'.

**Cobweb** – ★★★☆☆ I went into *Cobweb* with low expectations, but it really surprised me in the best way. As a big Antony Starr fan, I loved his creepy performance, and the whole cast was incredible—they all brought their A-game. The movie had such an eerie vibe, and the slow pacing worked perfectly to build up the tension without ever feeling boring. The third act was definitely the highlight, with everything coming together in a really intense and satisfying way. I liked the monster design, but honestly, I wish they hadn’t shown its face—it would’ve been way scarier to keep that mystery. The only thing that held it back for me was the open ending. If it had wrapped up a bit more, I’d have given it 3.5 stars. Overall, though, it’s a solid and surprisingly effective horror flick worth checking out.

Cobweb is as thin as its title suggests, a tired amalgamation of ideas lifted from far better movies.  Even its generous usage of standard horror cliches fall flat.  For a better version of the same thing, see Come Play instead.  Not recommended.

Enjoyed the movie from start until near the end. It would have been 4.5 if it had a better ending. Ending wasn't bad enough to ruin the film but it was still weak.

This film made me yell at the actors, I like doing that, very much scary. Wish we could have seen Sarah more as a better character reveal, but overall I think this is a good watch if you don’t mind watching at night!

Entertaining, it paced well and finished with a satisfying gore fest. Ending let's it down, but worth a watch.
