Court Reviews
Interesting to learn about India and its people in every day life and seeing that injustices are everywhere.
This movie is a sad reality of this country, everything that it shows is real and it is present as it is, also the movie will need your attention inorder for you to understand, you must have a conscience to understand the message of the movie also you must have a knowledge about what is actually going on this country since a very long time, the movie is silently screaming the wrong in our society and also what needs to be done inorder to change the unfortunate reality of many. As a nation we are doing injustice to the depressed section of the society and are punishing who are trying to wake us up.
I was walking past the mental hospital the other day, and all the patients were shouting, '13….13….13.' The fence was too high to see over, but I saw a little gap in the planks, so I looked through to see what was going on. Some idiot poked me in the eye with a stick! Then they all started shouting, '14….14….14.'
Inteligente, hermosa y honesta.
Sorry, I found it cold and detached and I gave up halfway through. It just didn't take me. Maybe is just my fault and the movie is great. Finish it and let me know, would you?
I adored the camera work here. The shots that linger past the exit of the characters and start too early before the entry of the characters is a maddening concept. It is implemented with such gall. Coupled with that, there is barely any movement of camera. With such simplicity, the camera takes precedence and creates self awareness in the audience. The introduction, development, hopelessness and realism of each character is fantastic. There is no background score whatsoever and it is not missed. It makes the movie relatable and real. It gives the audience a true voyeuristic experience. This is a seriously good Maratha film and fully deserving of all accolades received.
One of the best Bollywood Indie movies of this century (so far). It has everything to offer to everyone who can watch it. A must watch for cinema students.
Kafka meets Camus and Vince Gilligan in this sombre courtroom drama about the institutionalized oppression prevalent in legal institutions, part in due to archaic rules and archaic mindsets, the former often used to justify the latter. Case in point, the whole issue with playing national anthem in movie theatres.
It's very much a critic of the justice system in India and gets this point over well, but it's a bland expose, with bland courtroom drama scenes.
what a snooze...and I'm a big foreign film fan. This was poorly edited and poorly written, albeit very well acted.
the slow pace which can be misperceived as this film's greatest weakness is actually it's biggest strength.
Court - A movie name of 5 letters yet capturing the deep insight of how our legal system works. Chaitanya Tamhane has been brilliant in capturing the hierarchical flaws that our judicil system inherit and mix match of several authorities to prevent to change it. Not only it dwelves into these corners but it also captures human emotions from Right from the scene where the court room goes dark to the climax Chaitanya Tamhane and the cast has shown exemplary poise in bringing this marvel up
Interesting. Not sure what to make of the ending. Kid getting slapped in the face for scaring an old man? Made me laugh my ass off but didn't fit the story at all.
It bagged many awards & an official nomination from india - that made me to watch. Editing job is too poor that with high expectations i would not watch it till end. too many unwanted details / screens where it makes no sense for one to watch, you wait for the screen to get over. Looks like a self shoot movie which just says judicial system's one angle, but no solution at the end / even suggestions. Yes, not a 12 angry men kind of movie but not worth the oscar nominee. Disappointed to see it has nothing new / old / eye opener - offer. Wondering what made awards came in.
