Crank Reviews
Hilarious and non stop ass kicking. Statham’s best
*Crank* is a relentless, high-octane action film that thrives on its breakneck pacing, jump cuts, and kinetic cinematography—all of which are seamlessly integrated into the storytelling. As a genre piece designed to deliver a near-constant dopamine rush, it excels, offering a uniquely immersive and adrenaline-fueled experience. However, its portrayal of female characters leaves much to be desired. Women exist solely as strippers in cages or passive sex objects, with no agency beyond their relation to the male protagonist. The most egregious example comes in a deeply uncomfortable scene where the main character’s girlfriend initially resists his advances—both physically and verbally—only to apparently change her mind after continued coercion. This moment, framed for comedic effect, feels particularly tone-deaf and in poor taste. The result is a conflicting experience: on one hand, *Crank* delivers a fresh and engaging take on the action genre through its stylistic choices and relentless energy; on the other, its treatment of women and consent is frustratingly outdated and difficult to overlook.
Extremely fast paced and action packed psychodelic movie that really feels like a (very effective) parody of the state of modern entertainment.
Jason Staightham can't act.
Son de esas película que son tan malas que las hace buena, es tan absurda que parece GTA no es una de las mejores películas de acción ni entra en un TOP pero es de esas películas que son buenas para pasar el tiempo
If you are looking for an action film, do not watch this movie. If you are looking for a comedy film, do not watch this movie. If you are looking for a unique crazy over the top comedy action, then this is the movie for you.
Crazy over the top fun. Comic book violence, great British humour.
The frenetic pace - the jump cuts, shaky hand-held camera shots - wears you out after a while. I didn't find the story good enough to overcome the distractions. What did impress me, however, was Statham's performance. He showed some excellent acting chops here.
This is a good film. Jason Statham is great and the rest of the cast is good too. The action is wild. Worth a watch if you're a fan of Statham.
A movie so over the top that it leaves a memorable impression, but it also doesn't make me want to watch it again either.
I liked the plot. I am a big fan of comedy action B movies. I like Jason Stathem. He fits perfect for the lead. I would have given it a higher score, however, the "sex" in public was not consensual. She said no several times and he just disregarded her and took her on the ground in front of a ton of people. If she would have said yes, this would have been fine. But even as he always on top of her, she was saying no and hitting him. It was horrible to watch and then it was made light of which made the whole thing worse. It ruined the movie for me.
Had to turn it off ten minutes into movie. I hated the creative directing. The close ups and first person views. Hated this movie which is disappointing since I love Jason statham!
This movie is ridiculous but that is what made it a good fun movie. Its high octane and over top scenes made the movie such a joy to watch.
"Crank' is the cinematic equivalent of chugging a dozen energy drinks and sprinting into a hurricane. It's a balls-to-the-wall, no-holds-barred, adrenaline-fueled madness that makes other action movies look like a calm day at the beach. Jason Statham's Chev Chelios isn't just on the edge; he's so far past it, he's in freefall with a rocket strapped to his back. The plot? It's like the filmmakers threw logic out the window, set it on fire, and then shot it with a bazooka for good measure. Directors Neveldine and Taylor have crafted a film that's part high-octane circus, part lunatic fever dream. The camera work is as unhinged as the plot, and the action sequences are so ridiculously over the top, you can't help but gawk in awe. The whole movie feels like a middle finger to the concept of 'too much'. It's loud, brash, and completely bonkers, and it revels in every insane moment. 'Crank' doesn't just defy convention; it grabs convention by the collar, gives it a wedgie, and then throws it off a building. In essence, 'Crank' is a gloriously irreverent, batshit crazy joyride through the world of action movies. It's a non-stop, heart-pounding, ludicrously entertaining spectacle that leaves you breathless – and possibly a little dizzy from all the insanity.
Relentlessly paced and full of whoa moments Crank might just be the peak Statham movie. An outlandish 1 vs 100 action flick that was popularized in the 80s works better here with the wink and nod to the audience that the movie is in on the gag as well.
This is pure 00s action. I loved it but it took me a hot minute to appriciate the style. I can see why people wouldn't enjoy this film but if you want an action film that doesn't take itself seriously and has some laugh out loud moments, Cranks delivers
I did not love this. It is a unique concept about a poisoned hit man that needs to keep moving, or he will die. It is sort of like SPEED, only Jason Statham is the bus. It is a fast paced, violent thriller that does not take itself too seriously. Statham does a good job, as always, of carrying the film. Amy Smart is cute as his girlfriend. The film is shot in a chaotic and frenetic way- which matches the concept of the film. It is low budget- I think- but compensates with a lot of action and destruction. I do give them credit with keeping the premise going for two hours. Memorable for its unique plot and style but not much more.
It's ridiculous, but highly entertaining and funny.
Virtually unwatchable unless you have a serious ADHD disorder.
It passed the time. Had some entertaining moments.
