Crimson Peak Reviews
A dull and boring waste of incredible talent. A visually mediocre, poorly casted and soullessly conceptualised bucket of mop water... 3/10.

This movie is my absolute favourite. It's so hauntingly beautiful, I find myself getting lost in it every. single. time. I hardly have words to describe the feelings this film evokes. Between the set and costume design it is as though I have been transported back in time.
Second worst movie I have ever seen in my 73 years of life. The worst is “The Substance”
Hauntingly Beautiful Gothic Romance Guillermo del Toro is a director and artist whose films fall into two distinct categories: big budget English language blockbusters like "Hellboy" and "Pacific Rim" and lesser known, low budget Spanish language horror films like "Devil's Backbone" and "Pan's Labyrinth". His latest film, "Crimson Peak" is what happens when these two worlds collide, in other words, a big budget English language horror film. "Crimson Peak" is set in the late 19th century, first in New York, then in rural England. Edith Cushing (Mia Wasikowska) is a young budding writer who is intelligent, beautiful, and strong willed, refusing to

Best movie Ever ,mia incridible
É meu fiñme favorito do del toro
My favourite movie of all time! I'd followed production of this movie since the beginning and was a bit shocked when the final film did not represent the marketing AT ALL. But I loved it for what it is very quickly. It's NOT a horror or haunted house movie in the traditional sense. What Guillermo Del Toro has crafted is a BEAUTIFUL, engaging, atmospheric classic gothic horror ala Victorian novels and penny dreadfuls. It's compelling and gorgeous while also being repulsive and horrifying. Every single shot, set dressing, costume, acting choice draws you in and tells its own unique story while adding to the overall narrative. 10/10
A fantasy style horror film by Guillermo del Toro. With a great cast including Jessica Chastain and Tom Hiddleston. A vulnerable female leaves her home town to move to a gothic mansion with a dark past. She is in love with the owner(Tom Hiddleston). Slowly the female lead discovers what is truly going on and the film ends with a thrilling finale.
A masterpiece of Gothic atmosphere, Crimson Peak is as haunting as it is romantic, with stellar performances, amazing visuals & gorgeous cinematography.
Highly underrated movie.
Worth watching for Tom and Jessica. Mia is woefully miscast. Great sets.
Every scene in this film is lush and like a painting. I loved every moment of it. It’s a horror film in the gothic sense rather than a slasher-type horror film (although it does have the occasional bits of graphic violence).
Guillermo Del Toro's Crimson Peak is really beautiful well made original gothic horror film the set design looks amazing and really fantastic cinematography it really captures gothic story and beautiful costume designs and Del Toro really understands of horror gothics filmmakers as Mario Bava and other gothic filmmakers.
A dark gothic that is sorely underrated; it's unsettling, if a bit predictable and painfully beautiful. Wasikowska is admittedly upstaged by Hiddleston and Chastian, but you won't mind. Trust me.
Visually stunning with an equally beautifully unique ghost story to match it. The wonderful romantic victorian thriller will have you craving to watch it over and over again. If you enjoy gloomy weather, aesthetics and a somber tale then this is certainly for you.
A gothic horror, note the gothic part. I loved it because the ghosts were the least scariest thing in the film
"Crimson Peak" is a cinematic ode to the classic gothic tale, enchanting and eerie in equal measure. The film excels in creating a dark and brooding atmosphere, perfectly capturing the essence of gothic horror. The setting of the crumbling manor, imbued with a sense of decay and sorrow, is a character in its own right, contributing significantly to the film's haunting charm. The performances are a highlight, with the actors brilliantly embodying the archetypal characters of gothic fiction. Their portrayals add depth and authenticity to the narrative, echoing the enduring appeal of these timeless stories. The soundtrack, rich and evocative, enhances the film's melancholic mood, weaving a spell of wistful sadness throughout. However, the film is not without its shortcomings. Certain plot elements feel overly predictable, detracting from the crucial sense of mystery and suspense that is a hallmark of the genre. Additionally, the ghostly apparitions, leaning more towards the fantastical than the subtly sinister, don't quite align with my personal preference for understated, more psychologically unnerving specters. Despite these critiques, "Crimson Peak" remains a poignant and beautifully crafted homage to gothic literature. It captures the spirit of the genre with its mesmerizing atmosphere and rich storytelling. The film leaves you in a captivating state of melancholy and wonder, embodying the true essence of a gothic romance.
The movie was really good, it did move a bit fast but what could you expect? Its filled with a horror/gothic concept which I will say was portrayed beautifully
