Awesome classic, great story, great acting, a must watch for sci fi / mystery fans.

Gripping, intense & thought-provoking, Alex Proyas' sci-fi thriller isn't just a genre classic but a classic period, with outstanding acting, breathtaking visuals, gorgeous cinematography & haunting sound/production design.

A perfect sociological metaphor of contemporary society... much more profoundly than The Matrix and with a unique perfect romantic visual style (it's no coincidence that he's the author of 'The Crow'), and good script ... this film throws in your face, in a very simple but spectacular and multiform way, the true meaning of: The dynamics that determine our anthropo-social reality are deeply hidden, hypercomplex, and extremely difficult to understand. Good science fiction... TRUE science fiction... that is, with a shocking and profound message

The theatrical version is great, but the Director's Cut is even better.

This was straight up garbage

An original sci-fi idea with great cinematography and very unique and almost unhinged editing. The final resolution of the movie is a bit awkward but the plotline will keep you entertained and immersed throughout the movie.

A classic movie from day one . Visual feast for the senses. Great acting and directed perfectly.

Watchable but weird....I guess the word is "Different"

This movie is what you would get if you mixed The Matrix with Hellraiser. The acting was good but the idea was really something special. My favorite quote: Mr. Book: Is it done? Mr. Hand: Oh yes, Mr. Book. I have John Murdoch in mind.

Visually it is great. It tries so hard to be film noir and the look is there, but it comes off as a confusing mess style over substance and it makes the critical error of just being boring.

Weird, unique, dare I say.. dark? Some great sci-fi, maybe the best of the ‘90s. Loved Dark City when it released, and I’ve enjoyed introducing fellow sci-fi nerds to it today!

That this movie flopped says more about people in America more than it does about its content. Easily a top 25 all time movie. Totally original script. Excellent visual pieces. Superb Acting. It had everything an EPIC would have, except a following. It's Sci-fi but takes place at an early 20th century, it's noir, mystical, thought-provoking. A True Masterpiece that should've had its due.

Great movie, good acting. I am not sure what it needs to be a must-watch. I was not 100% satisfied with the ending, but it was not bad.

Amazing cast, amazing director (at least in this movie and the original 94 "the crow" movie). Watch the director's cut. The theatrical version of Dark City ruins the plot twist of the movie from the very beginning. An industrial-gothic masterpiece.

Cult classic and amazing movie. Would love to see a modern reboot or expanding of this concept universe, maybe another dark city out there with a new plot and cast. But this movie is hold.
