I guess sometimes it's ok to score a film simply on the extent to which it moved you. This is one of those for me. Probably a particular set of triggered emotions that not everyone would have. It's hard to describe but the best I can come up with is to say that if you have a keen sense of the fine line between hope and despair, this film will probably get to you. But it's probably just me.

Very underwhelming..

Makes no sense how the brother let himself take the blame for that sicko b!tch of his. He let her kill his sister and he didn't even touch her. Ain't no way. He would have been cut off completely. U can't protect your family as a man you are disgusting. Movie or not that is what made it trash.

A poor adaptation of a pretty good book. The audience score is about right. Most book-to-film movies get flack for not being exactly the book, but that's not the problem here. Things need to be cut, but they did a poor job of it. The kids going straight from a bar to slaughtering a cow, with literally no transition, ends up being almost comical rather than sinister. Moreover the characters are done poorly. Adult Ben is supposed to be charming and young Ben highly troubled and angry, but they reversed it. Diondra is nowhere near as crazy and mean as she needs to be. One of the twists is too heavily hinted at in the beginning. The result is the transformation of a plot that is forgivably farfetched into a complete mess. This would be really good with an HBO-series treatment like Sharp Objects. Dissuaded by all the rotten reviews, I put off watching this for a while. Once I did watch it, I was confused as to why it was rated so terribly to begin with. If you're looking for an entertaining thriller, look no further. Maybe it doesn't meet allll the marks but it will keep you engaged and entertained.

Crime drama dealing with a horrific crime and the unique dynamics woven in as the shocking truth is uncovered, though it might have one too many twists. Maybe the end dragged on a bit. Keeps my attention it does, offend me it does not.

I know it got a low score but I thought it was a gripping story. If you're into the show dateline this is right up you're ally. I was actually shocked at the low score on rotten tomatoes. Definitely a dark movie but extremely realistic. It was a little all over the place but sets up for a gripping ending

A waste of time. No surprise that Theron plays the victim in a grade school script that is boring.

Was there a scriptwriters strike when this was made? You put a decent cast together and Charlize Theron looking hot in a lead role and this is what you produce? Dark times and place in Charlize's career. Hope she sacked her agent. An all timer in terms of woeful scriptwriting. It's actually an embarrassment.

Interesting story some nice twists and a great central performance. Dark and engaging, about as good as Gone Girl.

I liked the 3 novels of the writer Flynn including gone girl the movie and sharp objects the series but as for dark places the novel is great and thrilling and there is alot of emotions and depression but this movie couldnot put us through all this .It was hurried shallow and lack alot of impotlrtant details including the psychology of Libby .
