Deadpool & Wolverine Reviews
The queer-coded material in Deadpool & Wolverine is played for laughs and comes off as homophobic.

If it doesn’t quite feel like a reset for Marvel, the film’s persistent self-awareness nonetheless feels like a love letter to superheroes.
| Original Score: 4/5 | Dec 10, 2024
Rather than a smart send-up, the movie functions as a dreary distillation of the worst excesses of the MCU and its apparently endless offshoots.

Deadpool & Wolverine is less a long string of crass gags and bloody gore and more a celebration of the FOX era of Marvel films, mixed with amusing set pieces and lots of trademark fourth wall breaking gags. Not for everyone, but I enjoyed it!

With the exceptions of some unnecessarily sappy digressions into our two heroes’ tortured pasts, director Sean Levy keeps the yarn churning along at a breakneck pace.

Tremendously entertaining when it stays on track.
| Original Score: B | Nov 18, 2024
All in all, it’s a mixed bag, but the positives do outweigh the negatives.

For all its giddy rebelliousness, its profane humor and gory violence — and its delicious meta commentary — “Deadpool & Wolverine” is sheer, unadulterated fun.

Ultimately, "Deadpool & Wolverine" is both the film you expect based on the past two "Deadpool" experiences — full of crude humor, bloody action, and stunted emotional growth — but it’s also a strangely moving button for the Fox Universe.

What I find is a very boring sequel in which neither the violent action nor the prefabricated jokes of Marvel properties work. [Full review in Spanish]

Perhaps the chief distinction of this film, which is being billed as an “action-comedy”, is its unique ability to combine abject campery with more blood-letting than I’ve ever seen in a superhero movie.

Deadpool and Wolverine is a triumphant melding of two beloved characters, offering a rollercoaster of emotions and non-stop entertainment.
| Original Score: 4/5 | Oct 7, 2024
R-rated comedy and action zingers abound alongside Deadpool’s razor sharp wit breaking the fourth wall and Wolverine’s adamantine gravitas in Shawn Levy’s buddy superhero movie

My indifference for D&W does teeter toward endearment, because if you cease caring whether you keep up with this nonsense and just let the jokes come, it’s a good enough time.

It was fun (but) it's too long. I felt like I was watching the extended director's cut.

Wolverine's tiredness in the film makes sense in this repetitive regime of endlessness and its accompanying exhaustion of ideas.

A shrine to the obnoxious man-child screen persona Reynolds should have shed years ago. So go ahead, have your feel-good victory lap. Laugh all the way to the bank. You might soon discover it's not just your character who finds himself trapped...

Cumbersome plotting aside, there’s enough gory mayhem and genuine zingers to make Deadpool & Wolverine a fun ride in a packed and up-for-it cinema.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Sep 11, 2024
Reynolds is at his impish best and has the perfect foil in Jackman, who provides gravitas among all the mirth and bloody mayhem.
| Original Score: 4/5 | Sep 6, 2024
The movie is overall a great time, and I had fun but it's a big bag of nothing that doesn't mean much. It's a cameo-fest with no real plot since the movie ends where it began. If you want fanboy worthy entertainment, then it works.
