Death of Me Reviews
Death of Me is a mind-bogglingly tedious bit of vaguely racist horseshit that is devoid of chills, thrills, or even cheap gore.

Familiar faces find themselves stranded and confused in an unfamiliar land. A new film and new style from director Darren Lynn Bousman, which is effective but somewhat problematic.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Feb 13, 2021
It starts out with a weird echo of the Hangover movies, then morphs into a variation on classic horrors such as The Wicker Man and even Rosemary's Baby - but with none of the dark impish wit that you'd hope for with borrowings like those.

Takes an intriguing and slightly disturbing initial premise and then proceeds to do nothing of interest with it.

It beats me what the hell is going on.

Occasionally, there's a movie that's so dumb, dull and tedious that one wonders who and why it ever got made.
| Original Score: 3/10 | Oct 19, 2020
Steeped in dark magic and ancient tribalism, Death of Me isn't the freshest take on the genre but it's still a good one.

Death Of Me is not the smartest nor the most original horror film, but the sheer inertia of the story and the question of faith at its core make it an interesting enough watch.

In spite of using a familiar formula, there's enough fresh spin here to make "Death Of Me" a treat for fans of psychological thrillers and horror who are willing to go along for the ride.

At least this muddled mess of jump scares and genre cliches contains some lovely tropical scenery.

I'd watch Maggie Q in anything but this overdone horror/drama seemed to break no fresh ground.
| Original Score: 5/10 | Oct 9, 2020
Death of Me is effective if repetitive. Q is a natural lead, and the photography is impressive ... It does tend to drag, though.

Death To Me is a colossal waste of time...It's a train wreck served with cold, expired Thai noodles.
| Original Score: 3/10 | Oct 3, 2020
The screenplay inadvertently plays into worn out Orientalist tropes depicting Americans under siege by threatening Others in a foreign land.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Oct 3, 2020
Death of Me is a good take on the island mystery film that pushes the boundaries of those films a bit further while also reeling in the usual expectations of a Darren Lynn Bousman film...
| Original Score: 4/5 | Oct 2, 2020
The initial intrigue begins to spin its wheels, and while the clues are few and far between, they simply bolster what's already obvious.
| Original Score: 2/4 | Oct 2, 2020
Death of Me is a frightless and futile experience. The awful soundtrack was the only thing that raised my blood pressure.
| Original Score: 1.5/5 | Oct 2, 2020
Death of Me is a scare-free embarrassment that even undiscriminating horror junkies will find remarkably easy to pass up.

Darren Lynn Bousman and Maggie Q make the difference here.
| Original Score: 3/4 | Oct 2, 2020
All we're given is a meandering and uninteresting series of events with overblown music, one good performance and a terrible ending that leads audiences wondering what was the point of any of it.
