Death Race 2000 Reviews
This movie was pretty fun to watch. It had a lot of action and some other weird scenes. The storyline itself was insane but still grabbed my attention. It was kind of hard to wrap my head around the idea that the drivers were scoring points by running people over but it shows how messed up the universe the movie took place in was like come on, you are witnessing people getting killed and its being used as amusement. Parts of it were ridiculous but funny at the same time. I am a car enthusiast and their crazy modded cars are pretty cool. As a Sylvester Stallone fan it was nice to see him in this movie. The action was cheesy but it worked for the type of movie. Overall it was fun, I guess, and if you are into quirky action movies it's worth the watch.
This film was an interesting joyride full of action, drama, weird, and bizarre sequences. However, the film in its entirety has a unique storyline and did have some Mad Max RoadWarrior elements with the racing and violence. The theme of how far a dystopian setting can revolve around violence and the need for it was very clear and what was essentially driving the story. This was an aspect I liked about the film with violence. For me something that really struck the cord was showcasing how society warps itself with this violent theme through the acting. It expresses how deranged and degenerate society can become through violence. In addition, it was interesting to see a young Sylvester Stallone in the film and this being his early years of acting.
This was surprisingly great, it is so stupid, weird, and funny. The camp and nonsense satire is at an all time high. This being shot by Tak Fujimoto is so completely random.
Nothing wrong about it as far as I’m concerned! 92%
Absolutely classic. Cuts through all the modern nuances and delivers on every level although basic in storyline. If it was architectural it would be brutalist.
Would make a good cinephobe episode if it was eligible buts it's a phobe for me.
On balance, better than Oppenheimer. Although ridiculous in much of its content, the film is quite predictive of far-right populism (Trump), rise of feminine opposition (Hilary Clinton), economic crash (2008/9), cult of violence (cage fighting?), insane 온라인카지노추천 coverage (Fox News?), casual sexualisation and nudity (Love Island) and so on. A worryingly inaccurate yet accurate portrayal of the present.

How come I never see this movie before. Excellent , stallone not good though
The inspiration for Carmageddon. 7/10 - Good.
A delightfully campy and over the top bloody but without falling into a bad movie thanks to it's social commentary
A "hand grenade". A HAND grenade. Now that is quite the visual gag, and they play it straight. A goofy, low-budget combination of The Running Man and Speed Racer, Death Race 2000 uses intentionally schlocky effects and silly dialogue to satirize a new dystopian future of bread and circuses. Relishing in the political disillusionment of Watergate, this Paul Bartel film takes institutionalized dishonesty and people's willingness to be distracted to its natural conclusion with this brisk satire of the American cultural scene. If you view it as a sincere action film, you'll likely be disappointed. If you see it as an interesting parody with sincere elements, then it becomes palatable. If you interpret it as a pure comedy, then you realize that the film still has potency, cleverness, and legitimate humor, even decades later. David Carradine hit the nail on the head when it came to the tone. (3/5)
really fun. especially if you're not quite old enough to have caught it when it originally ran in theatres but just old enough to have see it on a shelf in a video store for discounted rental. 100% worth the watch-time.
It really could be better- it's a big slow and boring at times. But still, the topic at-hand and concept is entertaining enough to carry most of the movie.
the year is 2000 and much of the world has been transformed into a giant racecourse because of a totalitarian regime only the best racers will survive on the track while also mowing down innocent pedestrians David Carradine stars as Frankenstein and a young Sylvester Stallone as "Machine Gun", two of the most high infamous racers is Frakenstein more machine or man? is he truly unbeatable behind the wheel? the Transcontinental Road Race is where both racers face off to determine whom is better driving across the entire country east to west a small resistance is also formed to dismantle the competition while also bringing down Mr. President's power we should all stand up for our inalienable rights, scoring isn't killing if it's part of the game, do the American people prefer to be entertained by violence or abolish it altogether?, what's more important; winning to get popularity or helping people to restore order and erase chaos? this movie set the bar for early sci-fi dystopia filmmaking and it's a lot more blood-splattered than I imagined like the cars it moves super fast with its pace which makes it fun and exciting and of course the racing scenes are brilliantly filmed Carradine is perfect, the action is tense, and the new face of America is made fun of with the amount of political satire that's still present to this day the 2008 remake is okay but this original film is actually way more satisfying with it's crazy violence and in-class politics when it comes to sports racing
Spot-on in today's political climate. Government language and deception illustrated perfectly. Can't believe this is 45 years old
Packed with sweet, sweet '70s cheese and campy to a fault, David Carradine's performance and the admittedly thrilling race make Death Race 2000 a fun satire, that also deserves credit for planting the seeds for Sylvester Stallone's rise to fame and fortune a year before Rocky did.
It must be some sort of film watchers blasphemy having seen the Statham reboot before having watched this one. I have no excuses, this just never made its way on my pile before. Until now! I must say it delivered in a lot of ways, while also being a bit of a fun mess. I have to admit that I really enjoy the dedication to camp and style that the old cult movies have. As I watch a plethora of bad movies, cult movies, and new and unknown films, I find myself enjoying the films that at least stay with their premise. Films that know they are weird and off-putting, yet stay the course. It's what makes a memorable film even if it's a cult classic b-movie. Death Race 2000 grabs a hold of its world and squeezes the weird juice from it. Didn't need a high budget to be entertaining, didn't need to make sense to be entertaining. It just made me believe in its Schtick and had me go along for the ride. Something that seems to be missing in newer indie films for the most part. I know this really wasn't a review of Death Race 2000 more than me wondering why we don't see movies like this anymore. Even though we live in a world of streaming sites that buy anything. Still, you've probably seen or talked about this before and as always I find myself late to the game. Death Race is fun and should be watched even for its flaws and dated everything.
