It's so Valee and so 2010s. Movie failed to make me care for it's two center characters.

It’s a beautiful movie that is pure Vallée! Sit back, suspend your judgment and immerse yourself. I think you might be surprised.

Now I understand what grief means

Oct 13, 2024

It's fun to watch him work through his pain by letting go and destroying everything.

This movie is confusing and uninspiring. Supposed to be a comedy, which it is not. Maybe the frustration feeling when the story isn’t moving forward, is the idea of the movies writers. There are some good scenes, but the plot is falling apart and the ending doesn’t tell a thing.

It was a pretty entertaining film that had an odd demolition scene. Jake Gyllenhaal was excellent as usual. It's definitely worth the watch.

It's a great movie with a great plot. But it's not for everyone.

Amazing, It really makes you think about life and what really is important

"Demolition", starring an unsurprisingly really good - and very fittingly cast - Jake Gyllenhaal, can get a little baffling in both its content and execution, yet it's certainly intriguing throughout, occasionally even unexpected. Funny and life-affirming moments are present, and so are promising subplots, which unfortunately are often left unexploited. But what really holds this back is that, for all its off-kilter traits, it somehow fails to avoid cliches and ends up feeling kind of contrived.

I found this a thoughtful watch - its very much a character focussed drama, with some shaky camerawork and poignant music played in the background. It is a somewhat 'deep' film, in terms of the main character trying to recover from the situation he finds himself in. I'd usually find characters like Davis hard to feel sorry for, as he himself says he's a banker who takes the credit for ultimately ideas those below him come up with - he's hardly done bad for himself and could be accused of being a greedy so and so. However, this is very much a film about humanity, about losing your prior identity and having to stand back and analyse things, take stock and figure out where to go. As I say, its a thoughtful watch, not a film that will appeal to all but I thought it was, as deep films go, a good one. Would I recommend it? yes I would, for, if nothing else, (Jake) Gyllenhaals performance, which I felt was particularly good.

Sometimes, in order to build something, you first need to destroy everything. Banal morning. Household-talk about a leaking fridge. Track. Accident. The death of a loved one... Or not so beloved? It's an unusual film about a man who loses his wife in a car accident, but unlike the norm in which characters mourn and grieve, Davis doesn't feel any of that. He realizes that he did not love her. Soon after the death of his wife, Davis (Jake Gyllenhaal) begins to maniacally disassemble things into components, subconsciously trying to understand himself, and when he understands what exactly is wrong, he tries to radically get rid of everything that was alien to him, trying to change and start new life. The authors of the film choose a harmonious in this story, and in my opinion a good way to tell about the past of Davis's life through his letters of complaint, which the main character writes to the company responsible for the health of vending machines with snacks after the failed purchase of M&M's. 'Breakdown' is a story about self-identity and, perhaps, that the conversation about a broken refrigerator that leaks is not about a refrigerator at all, but about a relationship that needs to be fixed. But, as usual, you always need to start with yourself.

Bananas!! Boom, now I've got you hooked. I've got you right where I want you so pay attention and listen to my insignificant thoughts and opinions about this movie. Notice how I didn't use a clichéd opening so all the critics will swoon over my review, forming a monologue inside their heads along the lines of ''let's see the audience's reviews on Demolition...that subtle off topic opening...the tasteful non-clichéd thickness of it...oh my god''. After reading through some of the critics reviews after watching the movie I've come to the realisation that what a movie makes you feel or invokes inside you is far more important than anyone else's opinion on it and whether you agree with the others or not. Why are you still reading? Whether you liked, loved or hated the movie f what anyone else thinks, right? If you don't stop reading now it shows you don't care about what I have to say because you just completely disregarded what I just said, so it's very hypocritical of you to keep reading if you care about what I say. However if you keep reading that means you don't care about what I have to say which means your completely wasting your time so either way we're all fucked. Find some other way to spend your time instead of listening to my rubbish. I won't spurt rubbish for much longer, it's just I was so moved by the movie and then quickly became so disgusted by all these critics farting about how bad the movie is in fancy words and calling the movie clichéd that I had to make an account and write a review because that would make me feel better about myself. Especially because I will get the attention of someone who is reading this. I suppose I should talk about the movie because this is supposed to be a review. I really don't know if I've ever felt so close to a movie. There was very little in the movie that I couldn't relate to. It felt so real to me. It made so much sense to me. It showed me how out of touch I am with myself and with my life. I feel so grateful I got the opportunity to see what a shambles I am with my own eyes. After writing that I understand why people might not like it. They couldn't relate to it in the same way I did. I feel pity for them that they didn't and I hope anyone whom this movie didn't resonate with finds a movie that they can feel and that they see who they really are on a screen in front of them. I guess people would rate me and my life a slobby 54%

Demolition tells a relatable, surprisingly heartfelt story with phenomenal performances across the board. Final Score: 74/100

I loved to see this mans journey back to sanity. Even though it sounds like a mostly dramatic story, it made me laugh a lot. I'm glad I didn't read the reviews prior to watching , otherwise I might have not done it. That's why I ask you to ignore them and watch this amazing movie.

It was absolutely subtle and displayed true human emotions. I cant understand why its rated so low. Maybe people have become hollow from inside and have forgotten what it feels to be human anymore
