Desperado Reviews

The story here gains from a higher budget and more experience on Rodriguez’ part. The writing and direction have evolved and are better than the first film while maintaining the spirit of El Mariachi.

Rodriguez does a good job of mixing violence and humor... All the blood, though, can't masquerade the lack of a real story, and it's up to Banderas to turn on the charm -- and he does just that.

So much of the humor and style comes from over-the-top exaggeration in the violence, characters, and conflicts.

This is a fun watch but it really doesn't make much sense...

It's a bit long in the tooth but had some very fun moments that showcased the talents of its two leads and efficient director!

If you laugh through most of the uniquely entertaining Desperado,' you'll have a great time.

Desperado is a brilliant action film and an enduring favorite among fans of Rodiguez's oeuvre.

It's a splashy, flashy, sexy cartoon with a charismatic star who has a fine old time stomping his refined European image into the dust.

[A] satisfying banquet of pulp filmmaking.

| Original Score: 3/4 | Aug 18, 2021

Filled with action thrilling sequences, "Desperado" goes to show what Robert Rodriguez can do with a decent budget. With stylish and inventive weapons, this film will keep audiences entertained.

| Original Score: 3/5 | Jul 3, 2021

Brimming with innovative and whimsical gunplay and action arrangements, built up through fitting music, sharp camerawork, and a unique, semi-Spaghetti Western setting.

| Original Score: 7/10 | Sep 11, 2020

"Desperado is filled with an undeniable enthusiasm that makes its faults easier to ignore."

A direct sequel to 1992's El Mariachi...

| Original Score: 3/4 | May 8, 2020

There is a cool factor of it all filling every corner, crease, and crack with many traits that are downright sexy.

| Original Score: 5/5 | Apr 10, 2020

Rodriguez edited the film himself, and his shot rhythms get better as the film goes along. His writing may fail him from time to time, but all is right again when he lets cinema do the talking.

Although expensive and shiny-looking, the movie is irritatingly fragmented into bite-size, or M온라인카지노추천- size, segments.

Within Rodriguez' pulp formula stories are little pockets of ingenuity.

| Original Score: B+ | Jul 30, 2007

Rodriguez's follow-up is unquestionably formulaic but mercifully free of the flat dialogue and arch one-liners that undermine so many action films.

| Original Score: 3/4 | Mar 13, 2007

A slicker, more expensive version than El Mariach, except that what was promising and charming for $7,000 now looks tiresome and repetitious for $7 million
