Dinner in America Reviews
Needed less slurs, more Griffin Gluck and more of the girl's music cauz Watermelon is a banger
Very memorable movie, although it could've been better if it didn't try so hard to be "edgy". It did have a lot of entertaining moments, I guess you'll enjoy it if you like chaotic, unserious movies.
i love this movie so much it has became one of my top 3’s the mac demarco song i cant listen to anymore because i cry its so cute and super good
Loved it. Great cast and a unique story that isn't predictable.
Definitely a must-see! This movie has something for everyone, it’s absolutely hilarious, surprisingly heartfelt, and totally punk rock. Kyle Gallner and Emily Skeggs have incredible chemistry and their performances are over the top while still remaining believable. Stellar supporting cast as well, this is an 11/10 crowd pleaser.
Good acting in an original movie that's strange and rather unpleasant about two misfits falling in love.
As a mother to an autistic child, who has such intense and captivating personality, I often wonder what the future holds. He's still young, but this boy is punk AF. Watching Patty blossom into her true self once expectations and restraints were removed was LEGIT! The movie starts a smidge slow but it blossoms into something beautiful. Simon's anger at the hypocrisy all around him is palpable. He wants nothing but cold hard truth, and I love it. Though he presents with a no F's given attitude, he clearly feels a deep call to speak up for those who he deems as worthy of respect. Patty, in all her glory, gains his respect and admiration by being her most eclectic and raw self. And let's face it, Psyops song lyrics speak truth.
Fuk the rest of them, fuk em all, fuk em all but us! 🍉
An enthralling and angsty suburban love story. Raw but vivid cinematography is beautifully paired with the soundtrack; Mac Demarco included.
The first half was a bit of a struggle but by the end I’d say I liked it. Character development was excellent, Simon was pretty dislikable but with enough dimensions to see that he had a good heart. Not sure I’d recommend it to everyone - good for those who like a slightly depressing view on the American family and a couple of young people trying to find their way outside of the mold.
Literally one of my favorite movies ever.
Join this fugitive punk rocker on this epic love story. This movie is very weird, but in a good way. It was extremely funny. The cinematography feels raw, and it highlights the characters chaotic energy. The directing is great, with the director expertly able to blend moments of chaos with genuine tenderness. The movie is well written with sharp dialogue and offbeat characters. Underneath the punk rock exterior the movie is surprising heartfelt. The pacing is unconventional but it works for the movie. Make sure you rock on and watch this movie
Too much offensive humor for my taste. Other than that, watching her seem so juvenile in comparison to him reminded me of how I felt with many of my exes. However, I'm ace so I don't relate to that certain aspect of her. See you guys in therapy! :)
To be honest this is one of the best movies of our generation. i missed watching a movie which everytime you see it you fell in love with every detail. The actors are just chefs kiss.Love the director.
God I did not expect to ball my eyes out.
Great sound track and great movie! Definitely will be one of my comfort movies that I re-watch when I need a pick me up!
Beyond expectations. What a surprise.
This movie made me feel so many emotions that I’ve never felt all at once, there were many moments where I was smiling at the tv because of how real and charming the characters were written/acted. I would chop my toes off just to watch this film for the first time again.
Intense, hilarious and adorably romantic. I have fallen in love with Dinner in America
If you’re into weird, hilarious, adorable movies then this is for you. Brilliantly balanced and perfectly executed.
