Dirty Dancing Reviews
A suitable film for 90s women who like fairy tales.
Phenomenal, that end dance, wow.
Great feel good movie! Great soundtrack perfect evening.
Definitely packed full of dancing but does well on the backs of its leads looks and charm.
Filme legal, o roteiro é bacana, gostei do casal jennifer grey e o Patrick swayze, a história sobre a dança é bacaninha, mas o final com a música time of my life, fez o filme acabar de um jeito bom, e ainda com a dança dos dois principais.
Literally my favorite movie for years now. I recommend this movie to everyone. I love it so much! :) <3
I’m embarrassed to share that I’ve slept on this film for three decades - even when my guilty pleasure has always been dance-centric films with bad writing, weak story and great dancing. This was NONE of that. Watching this for the first time in 2024 (don’t judge me! I just never got around to it)… it was legitimately good and I understand why it’s considered a classic. Great film, lots of heart and there’s just something about the “patina” and physicality of 80s films that I really miss. I regret not watching this earlier; it was wonderful.
I can't believe it has been 37 years. Always a treat to rewatch it and makes me happy.
Uma mistura de ritmo, dança, paixão de verão e romance. Um clássico que atravessa gerações e segue sendo uma obra prima. Envolvente, nostálgico, perfeito.
Although it obtains some pretty poor acting, dialogue, and themes, the interesting and engaging story, dances, sets, and drama make this a charming and overall entertaining sit-through.
I love this movie, usualy not really in this ganre but this movie is a must see. First played when I was 10 and I absolutley fell in love with it. My favourite movie of all time!!!
Awesome movie! One of the best movies ever made! Cant believe its 37 yrs old already! Still a must see.. glad I got to see on the big screen
Great seeing this on the big screen!! I graduated high school in 1987, and never caught it on big screen. Loved this opportunity!
Enjoyable film and only the 3rd time ever I have seen DD. Well casted with a nice story. I wished these selfish fools didn't yap most of the movie right beside us while trying to enjoy on a Princess Ruby cruise on July 22 today coming back from Alaska. Then they didn't even make the end anyways and left! Why even watch in the first place?
Really electrifying entertaining dazzle 80's musical featuring really fantastic songs and the cast are really having the time of their life.
My mom’s favorite movie, one she’s been wanting me to see for a while. Her love for this movie is so infectious: at the start of every song she’d grab my arm and say “oh I love this one” and then hum the whole tune for the next 3 minutes. She’s telling me stories about how she bought the soundtrack and would choreograph dances to the songs, forcing my uncle to perform them with her. This is part of what makes film so powerful: the sharing of memories. “Dirty Dancing” isn’t really indicative of quality filmmaking, but (if you’re able to laugh at and love it’s campier moments) the soundtrack, choreography, and performances (Jennifer Grey!!) make for a total blast.
A pop culture staple and iconic movie of the 1980’s that is… set in the 1960s? The Time Of My Life and Hungry Eyes are timeless Pop Hits, allowing them to transcend time to be the soundtrack to the summer of 1961 for a Reagan-like resort with a very horny staff. The age gap between the leads (Swayze and Grey) ages poorly, but their chemistry is undeniable. Time setting aside, this is an eighties movie to its core with all the decade-defining tropes: training montage, surface-level class commentary and surprise somber subplots. Kenny Ortega brings some serious choreography heat to this film that likely serves as an inspiration for his later masterpiece, High School Musical 2. Dirty Dancing’s 80’s brand of corny charm has just increased with time as nostalgia for the decade continues to grow; this charm combined with iconic musical scenes makes it easy to see why it became the cult classic it is.
Not only a classic but one that defies being beaten by any of its replications. Yes sometimes the acting sucks, but mostly that's when they speak and it is clumsy more than terrible. Body language tells the story in this film and while the script is simple, it took to the big screen one of the most memorable and moving father/daughter moments, where a painful chasm is bridged by a few words, even if cliche. The only reason to give this less than five stars would be out of the disappointment that comes from having come of age without falling in love, while helping those who have less...and...with a sexy sensuous man who holds you up over his head in front of family, friends and about-to-break-out-dancing holiday folk.
The feeling of a summer breeze on a Saturday morning is the emission this bears onto your shoulders almost bowing you down.
Nobody puts baby in a corner I member when I saw this and it made my middle school girlfriend break up with me because I wanted to take her to an abandoned swimming hole but her dad was like the dad in the movie, understandably concerned for his kid.
