Dolittle Reviews
You might think I am giving this movie a way to high rating for what it is but I watched it after endgame, and I think I am giving it a higher rating because it hold a special place in my heart since I saw it with my dad in theaters and it will always hold a special place in my heart.
Esta película es tan buena que mi mujer no podía tener hijos y la puse mientras follaba y ahora tengo quintillizos.
"To the tower with him."
Dolittle, featuring Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Holland, falls into that category of films that you didn’t necessarily ask for. While it’s not a terrible movie and provides some entertainment for the younger audience, it ultimately lacks the compelling nature that would make it a must-see. This new iteration diverges significantly from the original Dr. Dolittle films starring Eddie Murphy, taking a fresh but ultimately disappointing path with Robert Downey Jr. at the helm. In my opinion, the screenplay felt a bit rough around the edges, riddled with issues that could have been addressed with some thoughtful revisions. It reminds me of the importance of collaboration between directors and screenwriters. If a director feels hesitant to challenge a screenplay that doesn’t resonate, it can lead to a disjointed final product. Everyone involved is there to contribute their expertise, and if a scene doesn’t work, it’s crucial to address it—even if that means a rewrite. Personally, I found the abundance of animals and unnecessary world-building to detract from the narrative. The story strayed so far from the essence of the original film that it felt like a missed opportunity for a fresh adaptation that could have built on the beloved storylines. The original films set a high bar, and this attempt sadly fell short. With an impressive ensemble cast that includes Emma Thompson, Rami Malek, John Cena, Tom Holland, Craig Robinson, Tommy Colette, Kumail Nanjiani, and Selena Gomez, one might expect audiences to flock to this film. However, the reality is that even with such star power, characters still need to be well-written. Even if their roles are minor, giving them moments that matter can elevate the film, rather than making them feel like mere background players.
I actually liked this. It’s a movie that you just switch off your brain and enjoy it as a light hearted romp. Don’t think too much about it.
Not bad. But the original is better.
Was on the movie with my family and we all enjoyed it! :P
It wasn’t good, but people hate on it a bit too much
Great cast and effects wasted on a pathetically bad script
It's a great family friendly movie and thoroughly enjoyable
It's nothing to do with the actual movie; the visuals, the actors etc, all good, but the sound/dubbing, whatever it is in the movie world; downeys accent is an issue because the dubbing is just lacking! Such a shame. Or it could be his accent, the feeling isn't there
A big mess in all aspects of filmmaking. But not unenjoyable. It's so bad it's good with its nonsensical editing, inconsistent CGI, & seemingly random quirkiness. Yet there's a fun sense of adventure & ridiculous fun.
Dolittle was an ok movie.
Really what is RDJ doing in this movie he is too good an actor for this role his acting was so corny why does he always speak in an annoying accent that's not even well done plus the CGI and voice acting from the animals was atrocious and the close ups to the bugs made me freak out hilariously this was such a dumb movie the dragon farting was ironically the best part and they say this is a kids movie well so are the Pixar films but at least those were well made enough for adults to like them to this has no charm whatsoever and only has childish humor and just an overall lousy story and script thank god he was he was just in Oppenheimer perhaps hoping to redeem himself after this mess because RDJ was just laughable here and I feel bad they had to cast such a talented actor in a movie for dumb little kids did he even read the script before signing on for the role he deserved better than this almost nothing worked even the animals 🐯🐤🐔🦍🦒🐆🐿️🐅🐻 were all lousy and witless whoever made this should be ashamed 1.5/10
Robert Downey Jr. never disappoints.
Extremely dumb in many ways. Sorry.
To be generous this is a young child's movie but lacks that added dimension to make it entertaining for adults. Downey really tries but the animal voice acting is tooth drawingly irritating, the CGI disjointed and the director simply seems not to care. Downey is a truly wonderful actor when he has a worthy script or director and is 'clean'. He is capable of being one of his generations premier screen actors but his performance in this is truly a miss step in a career with many such inexplicable miss steps. He has more than enough previous credit in the bank to trust he''ll be magnificent again though and went on to deliver a supporting Oscar worthy performance in Oppenheimer recently, so best to enjoy Downey elsewhere without enduring this.
Horrendous movie. My 3 year old likes it though. RDJ’s “accent” is beyond bad
