Dream House Reviews
I really enjoyed it, I really don't understand the negativity.
this is an example of how not to make a psychological horror movie there is no suspense and no thrills the script is terrible the story and plot both equally make no sense. Daniel Craig, Naomi watts, and Rachel Weisz give terrible poor performances, Craig and Weisz chemistry is so wooden, dull, lifeless and unconvincing they make a terrible on screen couple. its baffling how such a terrible on screen couple with no chemistry are married in real life and I hope they get divorced. Jim Sheridan did a terrible job directing it his direction was incompetent, and the cinematography and visual looks, imagery and scenery are bland and flat out dull to look at. a must miss
What did I watch some kind of shyamalan wannabe parody film???!!! This movie was so horrible nothing made sense who and why and what kind of excuse would someone want to murder someone’s family and how near the end is that terrible wife looking like she’s alive and not a ghost after being killed so stupid and meaningless, none of the charachters were likeable, Rachel weisz is the worst her facial expressions were irrritating, the music is stomach churning, the cinematography Is horrendous and the script is just the worst of the worst. Daniel Craig out to be utterly ashamed of this why did he even sign on to it some paycheck I guess ( this was actually filmed in February of 2010 when he was still dating that ugly rodan and this is the worst way to fall in love with someone else ) he is terrible in this he always looks as if he would rather be anywhere else but on screen, Jim Sheridan did poorly directing and it is a career ending low for him ( and yess this movie was actually directed by an Oscar nominated director seriously??!!!! What was he thinking ) he gave the psychological horror genre a bad name I hate this movie with a passion I’d rather watch those Michael bay platinum dunes horror remakes over this. They are more suspenseful and thrilling and scary than this schlockfest. It’s like Sheridan wanted to challenge uwe boll this is one of the worst movies that tries to be dramatic and scary and it fails every once in a while I love to watch a scary and suspenseful drama thriller but this missed the target. Note one of the films posters actually rips off those two kids holding hands from the shining noooooooooo!!!!!!!!! They didn’t even make the father be the child killer himself speaking of which the daughters were awful I hated their annoying whiny behaved I honestly was rooting for the serial killer to murder them I hated the women in this mess boooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Snooze house you suucckkkkkkk worst movie of 2011 ( or at least one of the worst and the worst movie of Daniel Craig’s career ) 1/10
I actually quite enjoyed this film. It's more of a psychological drama/Thriller and I watched it without any expectations which is probably why I enjoyed it so much. Do not expect it to be a horror or scary otherwise you will be disappointed.
This didn't really work.
The main actors seem too big to be doing a movie like this. The trailer makes it out to be a "horror movie" but it's more a thriller. Plot was good, moved slow, however after we discover who Will really is, it picks up the pace and the ending is more tragic than you would initially think.
Holy cow. There are few times where a movie has me gripped for the entirety of the viewing experience. This was one of them. I was on the edge of my seat from the beginning of the film until the last moments. Wow. The amount of anxiety that I felt during this film was through the roof. It was so so good.
Wow this movie got horrible reviews. Ok, first I saw the trailer and felt like it ruined the entire story. After finishing the movie, I see why they did that. The story took an unexpected turn. Instead of it being a psychological thriller or even a horror movie, it turned out to be some weird family type movie. It wasn't horrible by any means, but it could have been soooo much better. The ending was sad but in a cheesy way. It's hard to explain but if you ever watch it you'll see.
Daniel Craig is good in the lead, while the premise is an intriguing one. However, it doesn't quite come together cohesively enough to be enjoyed on a major level. I didn't dislike 'Dream House', I found it alright to be honest. Craig (Will), as alluded to, is enjoyable in the main role, with Rachel Weisz (Libby) and Naomi Watts (Ann) being solid supports. The casting is probably the best thing about this film. It's the execution of the plot that holds it back. What's produced is watchable, but doesn't - at least for me - connect on any hearty level. The final act is a little clunky and messy, despite a nice reveal earlier on in the 84 minutes . It's definitely an interesting concept, but it's mostly a wasted one by the end. Reportedly, along with director John Sheridan, Craig and Weisz disagreed with the producer's final cut - no blame to them, if so. Craig, the idea and the run time stops this leaving a negative memory. I likely won't revisit it, but it's an OK - if underwhelming - production.
A confusingly bore this thriller like FearDotCom is a great sleeping pill.
Underrated psychological thriller, though is admittedly a bit of a Shutter Island knockoff, but I digress. 7.75/10.
If you can figure out the ending and understand that it's not a horror movie you'll enjoy the film.
This film is strange enough because it is boring for the first part and becomes interesting in the second becoming watchable and interesting enough, however I do not share some twists of the second part because they are too forced or explained too badly inside the film
I actually loved this. Great twists and kept my attention.
The cops were absolutely useless in a weird town that made the story go slow because no one ever did or said anything. About halfway through, it got somewhat like Shutter Island. Turns out the ending was kind of interesting and kind of sad.
