Drive Angry Reviews
Lussier’s gory action comes with plenty of debris and body parts flying at the audience captured by a fine use of 3D lenses, but with all of the movie’s silly pleasures, it still lacks the style or edge to make it memorable.

Nicolas Cage’s latest attempt at onscreen and/or career self-immolation, fills a particularly specialized film niche: The movie that is inappropriate for all ages.

We come back because there is nobody who makes being an actor look more fun than Nicholas Cage. Even at his most pay-cheque happy, his shear mania for dressing up in a character's skin is infectious...

Billy Burke rounds out the supporting players quite nicely as a frighteningly convincing cult leader whose sway on his flock is uncomfortably realistic.

Drive Angry 3D is a film that unashamedly nails its balls to the wall from the outset and, as far as guilty pleasures go, it's one hell of a ride.

It works as a stand-alone drama.

It's excessive, otherworldly, and a bit batty.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Nov 6, 2018
One of those delightfully tasteless movies that turns dumb, gross fun into true artistry.

Feels like an affectionate remake of an obscure 1978 Roger Corman production that might have been called "Hot Pants and the Devil Driver."

There's a thin line between clever and stupid. NIc Cage walks it.

Performances, especially from William Fichtner and Amber Heard, are great and the 3D is pretty solid, but that's about all I can say for Drive Angry 3D in terms of positive aspects of the film.

There isn't much to Vancouver-raised director Patrick Lussier's film besides mayhem and muscle cars, but he sure gets those things right.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Feb 15, 2013
Drive Angry is very obviously Nicolas Cage embracing his own ridiculousness, or - in language invented by Bad Lieutenant director Werner Herzog - "releasing the pigs".

[Drive Angry 3D] ends up failing pretty badly as it doesn't even come close to being a grindhouse film or entertaining.
| Original Score: 1.5/4 | Sep 21, 2012
...a tedious waste of time...

Drive Angry is fun-fueled exploitation bliss that hearkens to the golden days of grindhouse flicks and features the pure spectacle of the car/action movies of the 70s.
| Original Score: 4/5 | Aug 10, 2011
A rather straightforward supernatural-heroism tale straining oh-so-very-hard to be indecent.

The Citizen Kane of exploitation flicks.
| Original Score: 4/5 | May 27, 2011
The film is saved, not by its star, but by a supporting turn from William Fichtner as The Accountant, an underworld bounty hunter stalking Milton's every move.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Apr 6, 2011
It hits the sweet spots of Loony Tunes sex, violence, cars and exploding things more often than it misses.
