Feb 25, 2025

Clever nostalgia with a predictable plot.

Storyline is a little bit cheesy but it's what makes it good. They don't shy away from the cheesiness which what makes this so enjoyable. Soundtrack is also good.

Absolutely love this movie! I bought it on DVD and then again on Digital copy to be able to watch it where. One of my top favorite movies of all time! I saw it in the theaters twice and since then at least over 100 times. Great movie and cast!

Critics say it is unoriginal, but I actually found it quite refreshing and well written. Great actors and good chemistry.

An aggressively mediocre and predictable teen romance whose small-scale charm and trimmed runtime is worsened by a cluttered structure and lukewarm characters.

I was not expecting to like this as much I did. I saw it for the music in it like "Crazy" and Backstreet Boys. It is a heartfelt 90s High School story with different emotions and important issues brought up. It is also feel good. I reccomend if your looking for a fun High School romance/a little High School romance drama type of film. The credits are feel good as they play "Crazy" and then they get funny. 4 out of 4 stars.

Nostalgia Nostalgia Nostalgia! YOU DRIVE ME CRAZY AND IT FEELS SO RIGHT! I recently went back to this gem on Disney plus and OMG was it a nostalgic ride which really had me laughing dancing and feeling like a kid again. I won't go into a deep review I will simply tell you the facts, its not going to blow you away with plot or story but it will become addictive to watch and take you back to a time where films were silly fun and very high school ridiculous. If you love Britney come here for the soundtrack alone, if you love entourage come here for Adrian and if you love Sabrina the teenage witch come here for Melissa!

A mixed bag but cute enough, though it isn't original.

Love the soundtrack! I've been watching this movie for years, this is my go to movie when I can't make up my mind about what to watch. I watched it everyday when I was a kid in high school I liked it so much.

I don't know why I love this movie so much, but I do

I loved this movie in college and saw it in the theater as soon as it came out with one of my best friends. We immediately ran out to buy the soundtrack afterward, haha. I still have a soft spot for the movie anytime I think of it. Loved the chemistry between Melissa Joan Hart and Adrien Grenier too...such a cute, sweet, funny, and uplifting film!

Drive Me Crazy was released in the year 1999, and it shows. Within five minutes of the film, you know who's ending up with whom. As many of the reviews have stated, the two leads have chemistry to spare. They're funny, sweet, charming, and most importantly, adorable together. We know they're going to be sharing some big kiss and slow dancing before the credits roll. The movie doesn't try to throw any relationship curve balls but instead follows the standard script - but that's not the point. It's not about shocking endings or twists you didn't see coming. It's a relationship drama with a comedic twist, not a murder mystery action flick. So the movie sticks to the predictable, fluffy approach. The movie tackles issues that we've seen done a thousand times, but it only really succeeds by giving no solid answers. The jocks make fun of the outcasts and vice versa. When Chase calls out how the popular kids are all willing to make fun of Dave and we get prepared for the standard "popular kids are jerks" speech, Nicole cuts him off, pointedly asking, "can you honestly tell me you've never made fun of those [popular] people over there?" Instead of trying to put the blame on one social group, the movie shows that relationships are complicated, and there is no clear, definitive answer. We see outcasts be shallow and popular jocks be welcoming. Just like how Nicole and Chase start to get confused on where exactly their feelings lie as they get more invested in their fake relationship, the audience gets the line between in-crowd and counter-culture, along with all the stereotypes associated with them, blurred. Furthermore, the female lead Melissa Joan Hart pulls off her role phenomenally and so does her co-lead Adrian Grenier. We never really know when the two start to fall for each other because they're always putting on a show. Just when we think we know Nicole has fallen for her neighbor, she turns around and tries to get Chase's ex to see things from his perspective. Nicole is always planning and scheming to the point where it's hard to tell when the act stops and her true feelings begin. Chase meanwhile is easier to read. Since he's following Nicole's lead, we know he's in love by the time he's taking initiative in their "relationship." Regardless of whether the two characters do a good job of acting, the two leads certainly give a wonderful performance. So yeah, Chase ends up with Nicole, the two semi-loser friends of our protagonists end up together, and the parents have been in a relationship since the beginning of the film. Chase helps Nicole cut loose and she cleans him up a little bit. It's predictable and familiar, but in the way you know the layout of your childhood home - maybe it's not the most exciting place you've ever been but you definitely had fun there.

Drive Me Crazy, looks and feels like a million other 90's teen movies you've seen before. The plot centres around the high school dance and various dating schemes ensue. For the fist 30 minutes of this movie, I was bored out of my mind. The characters weren't very interesting and I didn't laugh once. Then, REO Speedwagon's "Keep On Loving You" came on and I was invested in an instant. It's weird how a film's soundtrack can do that. After that, I realized that this wasn't a highschool comedy, it was a highschool drama. The students actually talk like highschoolers. They aren't as dumb as other students in other teen movies. Melissa Joan Hart and Adrain Grenier have good chemistry together and do a good job of driving the movie along. The side characters are a little weak abd don't really stick out. I think that was to do with casting, not writing. Overall, this was an enjoyable movie. Nothing special but a fun watch.

In general, I am not a movie fan. Sitting in front of a screen for more than an hour just WAITING for the director to finally get to the cliche, "I knew this was coming" ending irks me. So naturally, when I watched the movie Drive Me Crazy I loved it. I know, I know. I like this movie but I don't like watching other cinematic masterpieces?!!! But for some reason this 90s, mind- numbing chic-flick caught my attention. Yes, the plot was just like everyone other movie plot during this time. The usual girl is neighbors with guy. Guy is weird, girl is popular. Guy and girl don't get along. Something happens to make girl like guy. Throughout the movie girl and guy fall in love without realizing they love each other. End of movie, girl and guy end up together, The end. And I just summarized the whole movie, but no matter how cliche the movie may have been it was still one of the better Netflix movies I have ever watched. I love Melissa Joan Hart in other movies and I loved her in this one (not to mention Adrian Grenier isn't hard on the eyes). The plot in more details consists of Melissa, Nicole, is popular and needs a date to the dance that she is in charge of putting together. Her crush ends up not asking her so she is in desperate need to find someone and of course her choice is her rebellious, misunderstood neighbor, Chase. Nicole transforms Chase into one of the "popular" kids. Some things go wrong throughout the movie but the two end up together. Overall I give the movie a 4/5, except for the ending. THE ENDING IS SO WEIRD. I don't want to spoil it but 0/5 on the end.

Had fun watching, for the first time, what looks and sounds like a classic 90's teen movie. After watching last years' DUFF recently, I wondered how my generation's, and this generation's teen movies compare. The clothes, tech, and music or obviously different. I feel like the look for the boys and girls is different as well, and I don't think that is solely from hair and clothing fashions. It's also the change in what the "hot", popular kids look like, the speech patterns, and the way they include innuendo and and drinking, etc. As a movie itself, Drive Me Crazy is a pretty simple plot. Except, if still comparing to DUFF, the female friendships were changed and disregarded. Maybe we have grown, a little, to realize those need inclusion too. Though coupling off is always given priority. But watching Melissa Joan Hart always makes me feel like a teen again.
