Dual Reviews
Someone willing to do this to themselves are insanely desperate and getting taken advantage of.
I watched it for Karen Gillan. But this Directors deadpan style just wasn't enjoyable to me. It'll pass the time, but don't expect any action, it's a slow burn through and through.
Incredibly depressing setting and characters. Even though it is supposed to be satyre and in spite of the very interesting story and Karen Gillian who I very much enjoy as an actress, this was almost painful for me to watch. Not my cup of tea.
Absolutely God awful film. I can barely bring myself to read the other reviews that portray this film like it's a piece of modern art, like it reflects something deep. Well, just like modern art, this is meaningless crap. Terrible storyline, no imagination, painfully boring characters and ultimately, an immensely disappointing ending... The one thing that barely kept me watching, hoping it might just be worth the agony. In short, spare yourself and pick something else to watch. Anything. Just not this.
I like Karen Gillan, usually. I think this was one of those, “we’re so clever we can make a weird movie” sort of films. It was alright, a nice concept, but strange delivery and the end was rather a let down.
Literally... everything about this movie was predictable except Jessie Pinkman dancing to Get Low. HOW DID THIS GET GOOD RATINGS LITERALLY EVERYTHING WAS PREDICTABLE AND SO STUPID.
The movie is titled Dual. The original trains for a year, and gets ready psychologically and everything then it ends without the dual.
Interesting, quirky, fun, unique and often hilarious, but with an extremely unsatisfying ending.
Wow, so many people didn't get this movie. It was brilliant and the ending was perfect. Exactly how it should've ended. This movie is geared towards a cultured type of audience. I saw an audience review saying how much better it would've been had it starred Adam Sandler or Paul Rudd. LOL. If that's your meliue, this movie is definitely not for you.
Damn it was awful....
I’m honestly disappointed with this movie. It was so good up until the ending. I feel rage from it honestly haha
Creative work. I love it as it told about being human intensely. So dark ending.
This film made so many writing "mistakes" and somehow made it work. The characters are written as flatly as possible to highlight the theme. The acting and dialogue are horrendously unnatural, and that coupled with the uncanny moments just makes it all cohesive somehow. An entertaining, uncomfortable film that I'll probably keep thinking about for the next few months.
Quite possibly the most autistic movie i've ever seen. Dialogue and character motivations, world building, and plot points are all driven by a poor logic with a very apparent lack of emotionality or realism. Funny in an abstract way and goofy. Possibly a good way to pass an hour and a half if you're bored.
Very entertaining and well played... good script... It is a good western!
This movie was pretty awful. The acting was mediocre, there was nothing exciting. Very monotone the whole way through. The ending didn't clearly tell you who won and they didn't even show any type of fight at the end. I thought about stopping very early but pushed through thinking it would get more interesting and continued to be let down.
I am so in love with the concept of this movie that my "what was the point of THAT?!?!?" reaction as the ending credits rolled admittedly left me a little bit heartbroken. It gets off to a brilliant start with an opening scene that leaves us a bit perplexed as to what the heck is going on and hungry to find out more. Sadly, the filmmakers aren't able to fully realize the potential of what they have, and it quickly becomes a surprisingly monotonous and uninvolving motion picture that crumbles due to a lack of character development. Gillan's minimalist performance and monotone delivery quickly become grating and eventully off-putting, although one has to wonder if that's what director Stearns had in mind. And the poor girl has the worst boyfriend and mother I've seen in ages. I will say that I was interested enough in the movie to watch the ending twice to make sure I was interpreting everything correctly, but my overall feeling was one of disappointment and a lost opportunity for something truly special and original.
Just like the title of the movie there are dual interpretations at the end. If you don't like endings with ambiguity - stay away from this one. If you like well thought movies or movies that ask questions about the human condition you'll like it.
