Unashamed that I absolutely love this movie. Ben Stiller and Drew Barrymore are fantastic, but the real star of the show is Eileen Essell's Mrs. Connelly. Her line delivery is brilliant ("He was named after my late husband, Richard.") and she perfectly fits the role. This movie has been a family favorite since I was a kid. My siblings and I can quote this movie forwards and backwards, like it's "The Princess Bride" or "Anchorman". Yes, the plot is dumb and the story is stretched over 89 minutes, but they are 89 minutes of dumb comfort. Best Character: Mrs. Connelly Best Quote: If I had to pick one, it would be "Oh, blueberries!" but honorable mentions to the following: - "It went bang-bang-bangety-bang-bang-BANG-BANG!" - "That was the weirdest seven minutes of my life." - "He died drunk and penniless." - "Kenneth..." - "It's pissing down out there!" - "I don't drink meself, it's a sin." - "She was holding me down, and he was having his way." This movie is hilarious! I have seen it so many times and still crack up. Everyone I have shown it to loves it as well. I have no idea why it gets such a bad rating.

Stiller and Barrymore play such consummate nincompoops, it's difficult to side with them, or the old woman for that matter. A nasty, unfunny frustration fest. Skip!

I really think Duplex is a funny movie with well done performances, the film is not stopped and the story is well thought out.

Not funny, and definitely not likable.

I reminded myself of this film while reviewing the Invisible Man (2020). I hated DUPLEX so much, that is has the distinct honor of being the only CD/DVD/BluRay type of media that I have ever immediately snapped in half after either watching or listening to it.

Danny DeVito's twisted humor, at a tempered degree, can be felt as he tell a story without compromising resolution but instead something an ill-natured joke that can't be taken seriously, only succeeding in forcing us in the victims' shoes of living under an arrogant scheme which makes this arrangement unenjoyable despite minimal understanding without the irrationality. (C+)

This was terrible. Absolutely awful. Hated it. It was boring and there's really no reason for it to be made. It was like somebody saw "The Money Pit" when they were drunk and decided to write their own sequel. Horrible.

Really fun movie in parts. Where she loses count of her pills had me howling, although there is some magic missing Danny Devito is well capable of normally delivering, and delivering well.

A funny comedy movie that unsurprisingly was directed by Danny DeVito. Ben Stiller and Drew Barrymore have good chemistry and by the end of the film Mrs. Connelly starts to annoy you too but also make you laugh and it is hard to be annoyed with her.

A silly dark comedy that has a nice pairing of Ben Stiller and Drew Barrymore. It was really dumb at times, but I found it entertaining. (First and only viewing - 2/10/2019)

I remember watching this back in 2003 and after 15 years again in 2018. Was reasonably funny, it had its moments. The elderly English actress who played Mrs Connelly had trouble drifting in and out of the Irish accent. Ben Stiller as deadpan faced as ever and Drew Barrymore is such a sweetheart even in a dark comedy such as this. Lots of the neighbour problems are a bit cliche but it all works well..May not be vintage Stiller but still very watchable. The elderly lady (Eileen Essell) has since died at the age of 92 back in 2015 .

This movie is over the top but that’s what makes it sooo hilarious!

It's good movie to watch

Funny movie. Not to many laugh out loud parts. But good story good flow. Wouldn't mind a second movie. But not a must see film. Has it's issues. Story however does flow well. Good acting by older women.
