Eden Reviews

Amazing! My only problem is she didn’t take the cat with her. Real story or not you’d take the cat.

This is a well done movie, I enjoyed it. It's pretty brutal but does shed light on this problem. She's a good actress.

This movie not only was horribly produced, but...the storyline of this "survivor" is astounding. This story can NOT be true. I have done research on the Chong Kim and I have found that she is a fake! There was a huge investigation done into her alleged trafficking and it was found that she was a fraud. This is an insult to actual survivors like myself! Those of us who have actually been trafficked, can easily see this story is not plausible. I have watched interviews with her on your tube and she smiles when she talks about herself being trafficked...who tf smiles!? This is a very serious issue. This is something that those of us who HAVE been through trafficking and have survived, would never smile about it. In addition, if she has been a public speaker for several years...why did she break down crying in one of her interviews? Those of us who share our stories, especially if we have been sharing them for a long time don't cry about it. It's life, it's what happened, it isn't some fresh wound that we are just now processing. She is a fraud and a fake! She should be ashamed of herself for fraudulently claiming to be a sex trafficking survivor! She is making a mockery of us who have been through these things. As I watched this movie, I found at least 10 points that were HIGHLY of not completely unlikely...a drunk teenager realizes she is going to get kidnapped and tries to run? Haha...no. Not the way it went down in this movie...she clearly has faked it. There are also so many places in this movie that things happen, that if they actually happened, the trafficker would have brutally beat or killed her...not put her in a tub of ice. Over all, this movie is terrible and she is clearly a fraud!!!

Tense and disturbing. Chung's acting was incredible and believable.

All movies about human trafficking are hard to watch and this one is no exception. It is a good story with an ending that is as happy as can be expected.

A small budget movie with a big story to tell, Megan Griffith's (no relation to Jordan, as far as we know) Eden is a movie that despite its limitations set forward by its financers is a movie that remains constantly engaging from start to finish even though it never reaches any great emotionally affecting heights that makes you think this story could easily be done once more in a manner that would make the most out of an horrific yet worthy true story. There have not yet been many high profile movies set around the hot topic of sex trafficking/slavery yet there are now many stories out there told by real life participants in what is one of the world's most lucrative and shameful industries. Eden is based on the real life tale (or is it real?) of Chong Kim here portrayed by the capable Jamie Chung who while not instilling Eden with a huge emotional heft, has many fine moments in a role that would of required a lot of her emotionally. While Chung is good as Eden the film finds a real power in its supports from grown up Frailty child actor Matt O'Leary and veteran character actor Beau Bridges. O'Leary as young drug addicted runner of the operation Vaughan and Bridges as Marshall/slavery organiser Bob Gault are both great in some very creepy turns. Vaughan in particular is an on edge and believable participant in this horrific business while Bridges oozes slim as cold and calculating Marshall Gault. With these fine turns by the two male leads it acts as a showcase for just what Eden could have been had it found a way to tap emotionally into what these situations really meant for these poor women and those invested into it financially and while director Griffiths has enough flair behind the camera to suggest she has a career in the industry there needs to be more thought on how to wring the most out of her stories. Eden is a small film worthy of your time, if not only to highlight the oft forgotten world that it depicts in all its unsavoury and harsh elements. With some very fine support turns and with a finely tuned pacing, Eden is a low budget film once more showcasing that budget does not make or break a movie if it has a worthy story to tell even if the film squanders a chance to make the most of its emotionally ripe story. 3 stiletto shoe heels out of 5 For more movie reviews and opinions check into - www.jordanandeddie.wordpress.com

I had one issue with this movie and it wasn't the storyline, it was the imbalance of acting talent. "eden" was an irritating character from the beginning, I couldn't bring myself to feel sorry for her in any way. I didn't even care what happened at the end, and that's what killed it for me. the actress was brutal

The film was very well done, but I was disappointed to learn that the actual person who inspired it provided a false account. For that reason, I would not recommend it as a realistic portrayal of the sex trade.

How do you manage to take an apparently strong story such as this one and make it so dull? Tension free and tedious, what a waste.

This was a lot better than I expected.

I would say I was rather terrified and feel terrible by watching these douche-bags taking the hell up on this prostitution business. I mean I was tired the whole time watching the weak protagonist struggles as she takes how to survive in this hell hole organization as a kidnapped victim of a human trafficking syndicate. Jamie Chung as Eden and MATT O'LEARY as Vaughn is doing their best performance as they are great in this film. The execution is not bad though it almost have a twist that will make you hate the whole plot of the story. Not bad for a true story and definitely a nail bitter as scenes goes darker and brutal. You would know revenge will come sooner or later. 4 out of 5 stars.

If you were born by sin, you live by sin. A nineteen year old Korean girl is abducted from a bar and sold into sex trafficking. She is considered old at nineteen and shortly after getting into the profession, she understands her life is going to be short live in her current direction. A year into operations she sees a weakness in their new leader and eventually talks him into being his accountant of sorts. The entire time she works for him she slowly plans her escape. "How long has she been here?" "Long enough for her pussy to be made of iron by now." Megan Griffiths, director of First Aid for Choking, The Off Hours, and Lucky Them, delivers Abduction of Eden. The storyline for this picture is magnificently written, contains remarkable character development, and contains numerous intense scenes. The acting was way better than I anticipated and the cast includes Jamie Chung, Beau Bridges, Matt O'Leary, Eddie Martinez, Tracey Fairaway, and Tantoo Cardinal. "Does she give good head?" "Yes, sir." This film was recommended to me by Netflix so I added it to the queue. I have been putting off this thriller for awhile, but I wish I hadn't. This is a very well put together film that is very dramatic and intense. The acting is better than it should be. I strongly recommend giving this film a shot. "Do they know you're that old?" Grade: A

great game of the camera and actors. Really!

A harrowing, hard to watch, somewhat intense look at the sex trade based around kidnapping. Based on a (possibly) true-ish story, a great performance from Jamie Chung. Worth a look.

Wow that was good - Things like this happen in the world and it's a reminder that evil does exists .
