I adored this film! Perfectly awkward masterpiece…

I think 3 stars is being kind of generous, but my goodness what the hell was that ending? From beginning to middle and even right to where it almost ends, great movie. I was hooked, intrigued, interested, so expectant and excited to see how the movie was going to end and then bam and ending that fell so incredibly flat it felt like I was edged for 1 1/2 just for nothing. Boo to how they ended it, prepare yourself to make up your own ending in your head so you can move on in life with good conscience

I just... I was so ready for a good, intriguing story. Let down from all 360 degrees.

Great bit of modern noir, with excellent performances by the leads. People looking for soft core porn were clearly disappointed, but if you’re looking for an intelligent drama with some excellently dark twists a la “Diabolique”, the this is your ride.

Kind of seemed like a student film. Wasn't sure what was real or not since they had showed fantasy sequences. Kind of a small fim, not really sure what the point was except to address unpleasant topics. Not sure why it had to be set in 60s Massachusetts.

Medianamente interesante. Si bien es lenta cuenta bien su historia y logra atraparte, toma los giros justos en los momentos necesarios.

A periodical drama on freedom for womanhood with a puzzling end. If indeed Eileen imagined an existence of her mate it's well described with her father's reputation having an effect on her loneliness from companionship. There's many hints at it like the shock in drunk bunch's faces when they see Eileen takes the dance floor. There's so much the story tells about a history of the world where horrors went unpunished and normalized Eileen spots a much desperate version of Joanie in Lee's demeanor and make a quest out of it and fly away for her well deserved freedom while getting two birds with one stone. Great performances, Interesting music and Great visuals to fit the mood of the story. Eileen is a unique tale of freedom.

Great acting and twisted writing. The broken characters from dysfunction & abuse are sad and scary.

Eileen has a premise and then spins its wheels to the point of endless frustration. There is a gimmick in this film that doesn't work which means the ending didn't work, but there are a couple fun performances. It's stylish in its own way while trying to be film noir. In the end there is a lot good, but how much can you like a film that can't find the way. Final Score: 4/10

Eileen is a tense and compelling drama, a thriller of sorts but more of a dark character study. It's both fascinating and daring, aided by terrific performances. The film is set in Massachusetts during the early 1960s and Eileen is a young woman who works in a correctional facility for teenage boys. Her life is tedious and she lives with her widowed and often drunk father. She frequently fantasises about one of the prison guards. Her life is turned upside down when a glamourous psychologist named Rebecca comes to work in the facility. Eileen is fascinated by her, which soon turns to more than that when Rebecca invites her out to a local bar. Matters are complicated by the story of a young inmate who murdered his father. This alluring and intriguing film is slow burner, a deep character study. It all leads to a rather dark ending. The film has the strong essence of the 60s and as said the performances are great. Both Thomasin McKenzie and Anne Hathaway are superb. This a smart and intelligent film, one to be cherished.

Pretty well junk. What was Hathaway doing in this career wrecker?

Solid acting in a plot that never takes hold as anticipated.

Don’t waste your time watching this pointless movie! What a boring and unfortunate turn of events….

Better than I expected it to be. I went in not knowing much and was pleasantly surprised with how dark it was. I hated the character of the father, Jim. B+

Though Anne and Thomasin do some great acting, it simply isn't enough to give this movie any meaning at all. In fact I even nodded off close to the end. 3/10 points.

The leading ladies working at this jail are cast so spot on. Eileen's a weirdo with a drunk ex cop for a dad. Hathaway is a prison shrink. When one of the inmates confesses why he killed his dad, things unravel...and end that way.

For the love of god, please stop ending movies this way. It has become a widespread trend to end films in an ambiguous, and lazy way. So many great films with good acting, good setting, good characters, that suddendly decide that the best way to end the film is letting lose ends all over the place. I'm watching the film to hear a whole story, not imagine the whole third act in my head

It was an interesting movie that wasn't at all what I expected. It's not horrible, it's not great.

I couldn't get past the horrible portrayal of the Boston accent by Thomasin McKenzie, it's not even close and is completely distracting from the get go. Was very disappointed the rest of the movie. Pass.
