Endless Reviews
Every generation gets the Ghost they deserve, and Scott Speer's supernatural romance puts a YA spin on the benevolent specter trope.

The film isn’t a new classic by any means, but thanks to the commitment to its central premise and the moving performance by Alexandra Shipp, it’s one that won’t be an embarrassing guilty pleasure in another decade or so.

Another teen romance that unhealthily fetishizes death as the catalyst for deeper romance. Golly, it's insufferable.

This film just plods along like a Hallmark type film but takes itself far too seriously and neither the script nor the acting can meet a reasonable standard.

Endless is far from a masterpiece, but it largely works for what it is and is elevated as a whole by a wonderful central performance by Alexandra Shipp.

Granted, the story isn't the most original, most of it playing as a young adult version of Ghost, but it's in its familiarities that it finds its strengths.

But based on the trappings of teen movie romances we know the universe has other plans, and "Endless" serves up yet another tragic teen romance.

I couldn't help but think this is another case of those who make films being out of original ideas and falling upon a previous film which was popular, thinking they could rejig it for teens and bam! A film.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Aug 30, 2020
In trying to explain the unexplainable, "Endless" hits a dead end.
| Original Score: C- | Aug 21, 2020
As "Endless" limps toward a tidy ending, never willing to wrestle with anything as big as love and life and what happens after, those possibilities are snuffed out in favor of cheap epherma.

This teen romance is so dewey-eyed that it feels downright damp.
| Original Score: 2.5/5 | Aug 21, 2020
Clumsy teen romance revolves around grief; drinking, drugs.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Aug 21, 2020
The only thing that seems to work in this sappy romance is how sappy it is.

Never goes deeper than its heroine Googling "spiritual connection" when she starts seeing the specter of her dead lover.

Alone on screen Shipp hits the right notes. With co-star Hamilton, not so much. Movie ends up being "Ghost" - lite.
| Original Score: 5/10 | Aug 18, 2020
"Endless" is a morose paranormal romance that plays like a dull reworking of the 1990 film "Ghost."
| Original Score: 2/5 | Aug 16, 2020
Whimsical romance set to ethereal piano may appear to be the forefront, but the sense of sorrow is appreciably very real.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Aug 15, 2020
The plotting is as gloppy as can be, there are long stretches where not much of anything happens.

There's nothing offensively bad about Endless and its familiarity could have been excused if there were some authenticity behind its emotional intentions.

Between the lack of subtlety and eye-rolling logical gaps, its aggressive tugs at the heartstrings will only leave moviegoers dry-eyed.
