Escape From Alcatraz Reviews
On the re-watch Escape From Alcatraz remains an excellent thriller but unfortunately is downgraded slightly. I never realised two things one, how funny this film is and two how great Larry Hankin is. The 1962 Alcatraz escape has always been fascinating for me because it's impossible how people can vanish, thus I do believe the 3 men made it out alive.
Well done, not only the escape, but the movie too,
A Clint Eastwood masterpiece that's still effectively suspenseful decades later, Escape From Alcatraz is truly a classic.
I think It's a decent movie, it's kinda boring as not much happens but at the same time it keeps you engaged because it interesting , the inmate characters are quite memorable even though the acting is a bit weird sometimes.
Clint Eastwood is a W as always!
The psychological thriller prison break that hasn't been beaten yet. Very dry the contained drama keeps you more on the main character definitely can keep you watching
It's Clint Eastwood as Frank Morris, one of the three inmates to escape the inescapable Alcatraz. It's a great movie, especially if you are a fan of Clint Eastwood or the infamous prison.
Escape from Alcatraz benefits from its attention to detail, Clint Eastwood's solid performance and some of its more thrilling sequences (like the titular one), but it has some pacing issues and i wish the film could have delved even deeper on how the incarceration in Alcatraz really was.
“What kind of childhood did you have?” “Short.” Great line.
A great escape film with a nice performance by Clint and the rest of the cast. Definitely worth watching and it does make you want to visit the prison.
It's really beige, and although Clint's steely demeanour usually works wonders, in this setting it just exaggerates the woody script, the jerky directing, and the slow pace. There is no tension or suspense, you don't feel any sense of excitement for, nor attachment to, any of the characters, and so it becomes an instantly forgettable old movie that really doesn't stand up to its cult status
This classic prison movie was really good. Clint Eastwood, Fred Ward, Larry Hankin, Jack Thibeau, Patrick McGoohan, Frank Ronzio, and the rest of the cast did a fantastic job in this movie. This true story about the three prisoners that escaped from the prison of Alcatraz in 1960 was dramatic, tense, and interesting. It was a well thought out plan and many wonder what happened to them even today. If you haven't seen this movie yet, check it out sometime. It's a definite must see.
Love the prison break movie
After watching many a docco of the real thing; it was pradictable, albeit a LLLOOONNNGGG movie ⚠️ Can't beat the oldies & goodies with movies 👍👍
The early portions of the film get a little repetitive, but it's still an entertaining and economical thriller. The ending knocks it out of the park.
Slow burning movie and the plot is pretty straightforward. The dialogue is mild and the acting as well. It is nice that it is based on the actual events. The escape scene was extremely stressful.
A great prison escape movie that no doubt inspired Shawshank Redemption.
It´s my favorite movie. This is a masterpiece. I can list three main topics why this movie is one os the best in the world. The first one is because of the acting, it´s really good and the actor can bring the same emotion that the prisoners felt in that time. The second one it´s the soundtrack, that makes the movie tense and convincing. And third onde it´s the real history behind the movie.
This movie is less emotional and less cinematic than Shawshank Redemption which is a better movie, however apparently that movie was inspired by the story/plot of this movie, which makes a lot of sense! Clint Eastwood does well in his role and it was also neat that this was based on a true story that took place before the prison closed for good. Some of the suspense really got to me with the guards checking on the prisoners, as well as hearing things in the background. This movie simple and to the point and sometimes I really like movies like those. Clint Eastwood will be a movie legend forever!
