Every Which Way But Loose Reviews
...an exceedingly ramshackle piece of work that benefits substantially from the affable efforts of its charismatic star...
| Original Score: 2.5/4 | Oct 23, 2021
Eastwood has the best double take in the business, there are some interesting glimpses of blue-collar LA, and the downbeat ending displays a genuine moral intelligence.
| Mar 26, 2019
The plot remains as flat as the treacly country-western score.

There's no accounting for the success of this over the failure of Eastwood's infinitely superior Bronco Billy.
| Original Score: 2.5/5 | Mar 26, 2019
With Clint Eastwood at the wheel, the trip is not totally disagreeable.
| Mar 26, 2019
Clint doing roughneck humour with an orang-utan, what's not to like?
| Original Score: 3/5 | Mar 26, 2019
There are plenty of lively scenes to keep fans satisfied (with some bare-knuckle fight sequences that squeamish viewers may find disturbing), and Eastwood just about manages to avoid being made a monkey of by his scene-stealing co-star.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Mar 26, 2019
The story and the characters are really too silly even by the standards of this kind of romp, and the film's disparate elements hardly ever begin to gel.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Mar 26, 2019
For Eastwood fans, the essential elements are there. Lots of people get beat up, Eastwood walks tall and looks nasty, cars are crashed. James Fargo directs limply.
| Mar 26, 2019
This time, Eastwood has chosen a story which purports to be light and funny and which is neither.
| Mar 9, 2019
The chemistry between Eastwood and Lewis is dynamite - perfectly sibling-like - as they look out for one another and yet are equally susceptible to playing the fool.
| Dec 27, 2018
Just weird enough to work as a fun time capsule in a half-baked sort of way.
| Original Score: 6/10 | Aug 12, 2011
Despite its flaws, this is still a movie that's easy to like. Some of it's quite bad, but it's bad in an easy going, quite harmless way.

The whole thing seems like an indulgent, expensive home movie created by and for Eastwood's customary stock company of actors.
| Jan 26, 2006
An amusing redneck comedy from that brief period of time when Clint Eastwood was copying Burt Reynolds.

Far from showing off Mr. Eastwood to flattering advantage, this kind of format virtually eclipses his talents. Every Which Way but Loose... is the slackest and most harebrained of Mr. Eastwood's recent movies.

Goofy but amiable comedy with great country music.

An inexplicably popular movie, this is annoying, unfunny and irritating rubbish which is best forgotten -- but that may be an impossible task.
