Stylish, decent zombie comedy.

We need more original movies like this! Great premise, hilarious, no need for huge budget simply creativity.

Mildly funny, but mostly boring!

Imagine, if you can, some sort of weird hybrid where the world of Leave it to Beaver is mixed with The Night of the Living Dead. Throw in some vibrant colors, a lot of peppy music, and a smattering of zombie gore and you are left with Fido, a periodically funny and very cute little movie that offers up a creative solution in dealing with the zombie apocalypse. The small town of Willard exists in some sort of alternate universe where zombies, instead of being destroyed, are used as household servants, laborers, and, in the case of Fido (Billy Connolly), pets. Sure, zombies are awkward and doltish at the best of times, but they are certainly serviceable. The movie is filled with sharp dialogue and interesting scenarios, leading to some decent laughs, but the laughs eventually wear a bit thin since it is essentially a one joke film. Regardless, it's a twisted vision that is worth watching.

This was a fun, silly little start to the spooky season. It's unique in a lot of ways and is overall pretty darn funny. I love the aesthetic, blending bright, solid colors in an almost 50s-American-dream setting with literal walking corpses and dystopian corporate rulers. It's kind of like Dr. Suess with zombies. It could have leaned harder into its satire (and probably made the most of its very, very small budget), but at least the humor works well. Carrie-Anne Moss is easily the star here, even though the movie doesn't seem to know it. This is unfortunate because the performance of the "lead" child actor is atrocious. Again, if they had leaned into it a little harder and spread the cheese around, it would have been a slam dunk. Instead, it's just pretty good.

LOL, the funniest 1 hour: and 31 minutes ever!! Ages 17 and older!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Was it supposed to be funny? Was it aimed at kids or gore enthusiasts? Fido has no idea who it is appealing to and it results in an unfunny, boring mess with a tone that shifts from family friendly to macabre. It's an interesting concept I'll give it that.

Well-crafted homage to 50s sci-fi and Lassie with a refreshing spin on the zombie theme. Soundtrack was outstanding. Well done, Canada!

Effing fantastic. Best. Hilarious. Zombies in the 1950's. What a trip. I thought it was going to be AWFUL when I first watched it, but I got quite a surprise when it wasn't. It's somehow witty and charming even while full of blood and hangry zombies. Easily one of the most entertaining movies I've ever seen. Unique, silly, satirical, & over the top in all the best ways. Five stars.

It's a dark comedy that lacks in the laughs, but you have to admit that it's really wholesome. Very cute!

funny movie with a cool idea

1. This movie is funny as hell. 2. Zombies can be helpful! 3. Carrie Ann Moss makes a very passable Stepford Wife. She's delightful to watch. 4. That said, she still emptied an entire clip into a zombie & burned down a barn. 5. My new favorite actor is Tim Blake Nelson, who was also in O Brother Where Art Thou? 6. Handguns for 12 year olds? A-Ok. 7. Zombies can smoke.

Fido is by no means a bad film, but it has a few basic problems that make it hard to me to give it a rating higher than 3. - One problem is that this film doesn't fit in any genre. While for this works to the advantage of some films as it makes them unique, it is a disadvantage for "Fido". The concept is too goofy to be considered a serious movie, the humor is too mild to generate actual laughter (at least in my case) and the gore is too mild and the whole "Pleasantville" setting is too bright and shiny to appeal to zombie movie fans while the gore and zombies themselves will upset many art house film fans. etc. Basically, the film deviates too far from any genre it is inspired by and it's not good enough in either of its deviations for this to actually work in its advantage. - As a satire of suburban sensibilities and the way people treat creatures of a different species, ethnic group or class, Fido never really succeeds in making a point. Unlike satires like "How to Get Rid of the Others", "Idiocracy" or "Dr Stranglove" the message is too subtle to really have an impact on the viewer and many people probably won't even understand what message this film actually holds. - Being too shallow for a satire and not goofy enough for a story a la "Monty Python", "Brain dead", "Shaun of the Dead" or "Hot Fuzz" the humor in Fido never really worked for me and considering this is supposed to be a funny movie that's a major drawback. So why does it still deserve a 6? The visuals are more than decent and the concept is one of the most original concepts I've seen in a film for quite a while. That made it still a film far more worth watching than any Michael Bay crap. It's just too bad they didn't get more out of the concept than they did.

A original kind of zombie movie! Many movies pursues the same kind of conflict and plot but this movie stand out because There's zombies. It's a sweet Story about a world that has defeated the zombies and now uses them as servants for the humans. Everyone in the neighborhood has a zombie but the Robinson's don't. Once they acquire one, the father secretly lets out his deep hatred for them. The boy eventually grows a deep love for him and names him "Fido". This is a pretty good story with decent acting and a steady storyline.
