Fight or Flight Reviews
This is a movie where a disavowed spy fires up a chainsaw on an airplane in flight. Get on board, or be bored elsewhere.

The film never takes itself seriously, blending comedy with terrific action scenes. Good performances by Josh Hartnett and Charithra Chandran.

The airborne action comedy is absurdly entertaining despite the familiar concept, its violence so nuts, the only response is to laugh.
| Original Score: 3/5 | May 15, 2025
The violence is so gleefully over the top that the film feels like a live-action Looney Tunes, but with Josh Hartnett swinging a chainsaw around a packed airplane.
| Original Score: B | May 15, 2025
A completely bonkers addition to the John Wick everyone’s-a-hit-man genre, and it suffers from being essentially a one-joke, repetitive affair. But Hartnett...make[s] what might have been a stiflingly claustrophobic trip more than bearable.

Much as director James Madigan tried, I wasn’t finding the comedy aspect of this action-comedy all that funny, nor did I ever really find myself as excited about the setting of the action.
| Original Score: 5/10 | May 15, 2025
Hartnett's charisma keeps this frenetic airborne thriller—basically Bullet Train on a plane—watchable, even as the plot occasionally veers off course.
| May 14, 2025
There are no snakes on this plane but everything else is including a chain saw.
| Original Score: 6/10 | May 13, 2025
Fight or Flight is basically a Bullet Train spinoff (Bullet Plane?) but with very little of the budget, creativity or excitement. It's not awful but I would wait for it to show up on streaming in a week or two.

We deserve more, and so do Hartnett and Chandran.

With recent standout performances from projects, the comeback tour continues for Josh Hartnett's with his new action film FIGHT OR FLIGHT, a film that, despite its low-budget feel and predictable plot, manages to still be entertaining in bursts.
| Original Score: 3/5 | May 12, 2025
It rises above the serious drama of most action films to a very comedic level and Hartnett has a lot to do with that.

Fight or Flight knows exactly what it is, and Josh Hartnett is fun to watch as a capable action star. Charithra Chandran is the big surprise, as a flight attendant (no spoilers) stuck in the middle of this mess. She has great chemistry with Hartnett too.
| Original Score: 7/10 | May 12, 2025
Hot Hartnett is the reason that “Trap” (2024) was a success. If casting had given the role to another actor, “Fight or Flight” would be a monotonous mess
| May 12, 2025
While all the extreme violence happening 30,000 feet in the air is entertaining, Fight or Flight takes a massive nosedive when it lets anyone on the ground speak.
| Original Score: C+ | May 11, 2025
It's structured like an action movie but really it's a comedy, that derives most of its laughs from hilariously gruesome kills, the creative use of parts of an airplane, and mugging from star Josh Hartnett.

osh Hartnett’s energetic performance is the key ingredient, selling the completely bonkers nature of it all with charismatic conviction.
| Original Score: B | May 10, 2025
A fully committed Josh Hartnett fills in the familiar but propulsive action comedy.
| Original Score: 3.5/5 | May 10, 2025
Hartnett and Chandran’s laid back chemistry steady the film’s turbulent tonal shifts, adding a punch that the shakily choreographed action lacks.

I love a film that is what it is, & this "BULLET TRAIN on a Plane" meets Tarantino tale combines a hammy Josh Harnett with a array of how-did-they-get-these-weapons-through-security suspension of disbelief. Whatever this is on, send it to my table.
