Finch Reviews
It's Cast Away meets WALL-E... what's not to like?
Finch manages to make a lump of metal, overshadow the only human on screen. To make an actor like Tom Hanks appear as though he's "in the way" of a better character is no small feat. A lovable robot. A mostly clueless dog. A small robo-dog-ish-thing. and a human. Who knew what a winning formula that would be. Finch is a must-watch for post-apocalyptic and/or near future sci-fi fan.
Finch was a good movie if you like sci-fi and emotional movies you would love this. It would be the best for a chill days when you feel like relaxing.
That wasn't bad at all.....worth the watch ✌🏾
FINCH is a post-apocalyptic road-trip that takes its good, sweet, cinematic time getting the characters from a sun-scorched St. Louis to (hopefully) sunny San Francisco. A man, two robots, and a dog--all four traveling together in an RV--put thousands of miles between them and an incoming dust storm. With a depleted ozone in the sky, they brave temperatures that pop corn while it's still on the cob, and they forever hide from a sun that sizzles human skin like bacon. ////// I'm torn. Elements of this movie along with its slow narrative pace made me use the fast-forward button on my remote control, which means I didn't fully absorb the moody atmosphere that the director was going for. Honestly, the film did drag at times. I also had difficulty believing that the characters were driving in 150-degree weather (can you survive that?). And that they hadn't starved by now. And I really had trouble believing that the tall robot, named Jeff, would have been programmed to behave the way it did. And worse of all, at every turn, the scriptwriter pawned Jeff off as cute and heartwarming, real Halmark Channel-type stuff, a man, his dog, and two robots that act like toddlers. Jeff was so adorably vulnerable that I wanted to puke. And at the same time, I found myself empathizing with him, especially during the scene where he found himself scared and alone and had to keep asking, "What am I going to do? What am I going to do?" but there's no one to help him. And good lord, my last comment: it was me discovering the reason for which the man had created Jeff the robot that finally pushed me over the edge. By the end of the film, I was sobbing like a baby. I almost choked on my own tears. Any movie with a dog in it has the ability to turn me into a nervous wreck. I can deal with gore. I can't deal with dogs in danger. Even a dog made to feel a little uncomfortable gets me flustered.
One of my personal favourites. Finch takes you on an uncertain journey, starting off as a disaster and post apocalyptic movie, making you wonder how and why. It then shifts to lighthearted as Finch takes care of the robot and his dog. Finch makes you understand how unsafe and how unpredictable space is, and how it really is a possible reality. It makes you realise how important family and living good actually IS. A movie with a simple premise, but dives deep into morale and humanity. Watch it!
This film is brilliant. Despite the slow pace it’s so beautiful and so compelling as well as being outright hilarious at some points.
An enjoyable movie that sends a very relatable and real message about environmental awareness. Hanks delivers again. The robot voice acting and execution could have been better. Worth a watch still.
Look, Finch won't be for everyone. Many found it to be slow, boring, bleak, tedious and overall a waste of time... but it is a post-apocalyptic drama after all... not an action thrill ride. I'm not sure what a lot of folks thought they would be watching when they sat down to see this movie. Hanks is his usual solid self, nearly single-handedly propelling this movie to its conclusion. However, he would be nowhere without his trusty sidekick robots Jeff (voiced by an entertaining Caleb Landry Jones) and Dewey, and a gorgeous dog (an Irish Terrier-cross named Goodyear). Finch is full of heart and that was plenty enough for me to keep me fully engaged in this excellent drama. Well worth watching and not just for Tom Hanks fans.
Finch is the kind of movie you'd watch on a quiet Sunday night, a heartfelt and emotional journey that feels like a warm embrace. It's a simple yet impactful story that focuses on survival, connection, and finding meaning even in the toughest circumstances. What really stood out for me was the amazing performance by Tom Hanks, which is no surprise. He brings depth and vulnerability to the character, making you care deeply about his journey. The visuals and cinematography beautifully capture the mood, with stunning landscapes and a production that immerses you in the story. The film carries a heartwarming message, reminding us of the importance of love, loyalty, and legacy. It may not have the action or tension you'd expect from a post-apocalyptic movie, but its emotional depth is what makes it memorable. It's a quiet story that leaves you thinking about the little things that truly matter in life. Overall, Finch is a touching and beautifully made film. If you're in the mood for something heartfelt and reflective, this is definitely worth watching.
Tom hanks plays a tired., boring post apocalyptic dog food eating nomad….. no real plot and ya, the voice of the robot sounds like Borat if he was born in st Petersburg…… pretty limp, leaves an unpleasant aftertaste, like sucking on a penny you found in an abandoned sofa.
I was disappointed. Just didn't do it for me.
Special Effects: 1,0/Sound Effects: 1,0/Acting: 1,0/Story: 2,0
Lovely movie. Good acting, well story-boarded with heavy hitting emotional seanse that leave you a stronger understanding of each character's drive. It may not be the best film, but it surtenly pulls on the strings of your heart. More importantly, it accomplished what it set out to do. Convey how fleeting life is and it's need for love. (would have rated 4 stars but it already has a bad rating).
You really can’t go wrong with a Tom Hanks movie and this is no exception. The premise and backdrop of the film were spot on, leaving you to take in the fine acting. Watched it a second time and it was just as enjoyable.
The story of a man and his dog... and an A.I. robot in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. They couldn’t have messed it up if they tried.
From beginning to end it was amazing
I not completely sure, but I feel like this movie is quite underrated. I absolutely love this film! I would watch 100 times over if I wanted to. It's very emotionally driven, there are some comedic moments, Tom Hank's performance is amazing as always, and the movie is just so enjoyable every time you watch it. 5/5 stars from me.
A great moving. Teaching the value of love, live, world and friendship.
