I don’t like the way this was shot

Un sello distintivo de Sidney Lumet está en profundizar más allá de la superficie a personajes con trabajos cuestionables, el quitar la capa "villanesca" de su perfil y exponerlos vulnerablemente, sintetizando que más allá del prejuicio que se han ganado hay una persona común y corriente con familia y con sus propios problemas domésticos, pasó con "12 angry men", "serpico", "poder que mata"etc, etc. Y me parece que con "Find Me Guilty" explora de buena manera el arco evolutivo del personaje de Vin Diesel, dónde su personaje es prácticamente el que tiene que sobrellevar la trama, es el protagonista total y todos los demás solo están para profundizar el conflicto, Vin Diesel para mí en esta película bien podría regalar su actuación más honesta en su carrera, no digo que sea sobresaliente a estándares que normalmente vemos, pero para este punto ya habíamos visto a Toretto y salir de ese personaje irreverente para protagonizar una película más demandante en cuanto a actuación es de reconocerse. La trama siempre establece el POV de Jackie, sobre lo que representa irónicamente a la figura tan parodiada que estamos acostumbrados de ver de Vin Diesel a la "Familia", y cómo a medida que avanza el juicio tal vez no todos los que están en una situación parecida a la de él piensan igual, dándole la espalda ya sea siendo testigos cómo su mismo primo o ignorándolo después de la corte cuando no les conviene que este con ellos. Y algo que me gustó que siempre desarrolla la película de manera ambigua es porque el primo de Jackie no pudiera matarlo en el prólogo de la película, fue por idiotez o porque en el fondo sabía que, aunque Jackie no era la persona más honesta nunca le haría daño a propósito y únicamente su primo quiera venganza sobre él; siendo la lealtad lo que distingue a este sub mundo de las "familias de la mafia", siendo constantemente Jackie con sus acciones un recordatorio de manera impecable lo que representan los valores de su familia. El personaje de Jackie me parece el protagonista perfecto para esta película, dónde a pesar de no enfocarse en su lado delictivo yo creo que no lo necesitamos para entender que todo lo que le pasa de cierta manera lo tiene merecido, aunque él siempre se burla de la vida, no tomando nada en serio cómo en primera instancia el juicio, siendo más un concurso de ego que en preocuparse por ser este juicio probablemente su última oportunidad de no ser condenado de por vida. Dónde en el segundo acto a base de su irrompible lealtad y palpable honestidad Jackie cada vez más se va ganado nuevamente el respeto de su "familia", y de todos los que lo han conocido, cómo los jueces que están apoyando a sus amigos y el respeto de los que lo quieren ver tras las rejas. Aunque se establezca que Jackie no es la persona más profesional, él sabe utilizar el poder de su palabra a su favor, y cómo manipular a quién quiera; dónde, aunque sea simple el desarrollo del personaje que tenga sus motivaciones tan claras en la película hacen que sea empático en la trama. Aumentando cada vez más la tensión para saber el veredicto final, que la película de cierta manera a lo largo de la trama nos ha manipulado para empatizar con todos los personajes, aunque en su mayoría sean personajes de fondo, pero gracias a la constante lealtad de Jackie hace que genuinamente nos interese lo que les pueda llegar a pasar; en la que, aunque no salga un resultado favorable, todos estarán más unidos que nunca gracias a Jackie. La deconstrucción que hacen a todos los personajes, aunque obvio más centrado en Jackie me pareció correcta, la trama no intenta borrar que sean personas horribles, pero el humanizarlas es lo que vuelve tridimensional a la película y al conflicto cimentado. Dónde, aunque en un inicio todo parecía estar en su contra el confiar en tu instinto y no dejar que ningún externo intente cambiarlo; hacerte cargo de tus responsabilidades cómo de tus errores y aunque tengas que cargar con ello siempre reconocerlos. El montaje es bueno, es sencillo ya que prácticamente la película se desarrolla en un solo lugar, pero funciona ya que la película no se siente pesada y es expositiva en todo momento, te mantiene intrigado tanto en el juicio en sí cómo en el trasfondo de los personajes. La Dirección igual se siente muy estandarizada en sus visuales, por la escala de la misma, pero es funcional en primer plano retratar de manera honesta los sentimientos de los personajes, siendo en mi parecer la primera responsable en que empaticemos con ellos; siempre yendo directo al grano logrando ser sentimental cómo emocionante cuando lo tiene que ser.

Very under rated movie! LOVED it!

Vin Diesel playing the part of a mobster. I know that's hard to believe. But, he did. And, he did a credible job. This story is based on true events about the mob on trial in New York for doing bad things with Vin Diesel as Giacomo "Jackie Dee" DiNorscio who defends himself in court. A mobster with a sixth-grade education is presented as doing a better job at defending himself than the lawyers representing eight-or-so other bad guys. I'm not a Diesel fan since he normally plays himself in movies and his acting ability seemed limited played a part made for his acting ability. This story is presented well and acted well by the usual bad guys you might see in all gangster movies. This story is worth the viewing time.

Vins best movie, such a well done movie

Good Movie that stars Vin Diesel. It's probably one of Diesel's better performances, but is that really saying much? :) It's also directed by Sidney Lumet.

Poor characterisation and sloppy courtroom dramatics make Find Me Guilty a lesson in mediocrity.

The movie is unnecessarily long, poorly narrated. Half the time it's confusion. Screenplay is very poor. The only saving grace is Vin Diesel. Only worth watching if you're a huge fan of Vin Diesel. Otherwise it's a waste of 2 hours.

For me this has to be Vin Diesels best acting part and true life script. Very good cast. Great true story. This is a nice easy to watch film

This movie is a very interesting and thrilling movie to watch and what makes this movie so remarkable it is based on a true story that's what makes this movie even more compelling to watch take my word Vin Diesel is a great actor. A family of mobsters called luchessi is convicted of conspiracy charges to commit murder robbery arson theft and racketeering. Jack DiNorscio who is role played by Vin Diesel in the movie take a stand at trial after firing his lawyer and represents himself while refusing to give any information to convict his fellow gang members AKA snitching .Watch the movie yourself.

the premise doesn't call for it.. Find Me Guilty Find Me Guilty is a character driven courtroom drama about the infamous DiNorscio case that is considered to be one of the longest American criminal case on record. Lumet's directorial comeback comes with lots of expectations and it may not have been delivered entirely but certainly is thoroughly entertaining. Not only the courtroom drama is edited aptly but the selective choices on the off court dramatic sequences too are just immensely pleasing to encounter that makes it supremely watchable despite of having issues on bits and pieces. The script doesn't have any definite structure, since the premise doesn't call for it, but this is where Lumet comes in and binds it all with his experience. As mentioned the narration might be scattered and it does add tons of friction and makes it difficult to flow smoothly. The performance is probably the weakest link of all, especially the core of it. Diesel fails on all level to justify its part despite of being offered such a wide range while on the supporting cast Dinklage delivers unflinchingly along with Slattery's moving performance. The background is non-effective and in fact a bit questionable but has amazing cinematography, plausible sound department and fine editing. The dialogues may get cheesy but some of it gets right on the nerves and leaves an appealing impression. The humor imputed in here doesn't seem forced in fact, is an essential bit on the characteristics of the characters that unfortunately latter gets mutilated on the court. Lumet's evergreen finesse on delivering a courtroom drama and slick humor that enlightens the tone every now and then are the high points of the feature. Find Me Guilty can be viewers' response by being condemned on enjoying these shallow yet gripping arguments that will not actually change a dime on the cinematic virtuoso.

The movie has no flaws and that's why it deserves a 5 out of 5. Criminal court rooms is a perenially interesting subject and this movie is no different. The dialouge is excellent, the acting is very good, the subject matter is interesting, the movie is paced well and the stylisation is good: it looks and feels like the 90's. If there is any criticism it could perhaps have been a little more exciting but not all movies are built the same and this movie has no flaws and therfore deserves 5 out of 5.

Jugez-moi coupable est une rare incursion de Vin Diesel dans le non-film d'action (la seule séquence musclée le voit prendre une balle dans le cou et dans la main au début du film), réalisée par Sidney Lumet. Cette association marche parfaitement bien, la mise en scène de Lumet laissant Vin Diesel bouffer l'écran, tour à tour affable, blagueur, charismatique et parfois menaçant. Ce qui aurait pu tourner au one-man-show bénéficie aussi de la présence de Peter Dinklage, qui contrebalance parfaitement Diesel et d'un supporting cast efficace. Assez calme, classique mais pas académique, Jugez moi Coupable est un très bon divertissement.

Apart from Vin Diesel's breakaway performance, this movie didn't move me like it did its jury. They say that truth is stranger than fiction - considering this is based on a true story, I am starting to believe the phrase. There is neither a background to root for the defendants except for some superficial statements in the court-room, nor any overwhelming evidence or lack of it to justify the final verdict.

86% Watched this on 23/1/16 Vin Diesel gives the performance of his life and this is a reply to all those who question his abilities as an actor. Sidney Lumet must be given some serious appreciation for finding an acting potential in the actor who was always sidelined as an action film junk. How is this film overlong? It's just 2 hrs long and it has a terrific pace. The film is comic and satire at times and thanks to Diesel, it's equally emotional and poignant. A court room comedy could have easily become a flaw, but Lumet effectively directs this to triumph.

It's a bit like 'My Cousin Vinny' meets '12 Angry Men'.

After a string of sub-par films throughout the '90s, Find Me Guilty would be a return to form for the late, legendary Sindey Lumet, his best film since Q & A. Though the court case doesn't pack the type of intense, dramatic punch one might want, Lumet knows courtroom drama better than anyone and maneuvers through one of America's most bizarre trials with his skilled, veteran touch. It's what Lumet brings out of Vin Diesel, though, a revelatory performance that will come as a pleasant surprise to those who only know him as the one-note action star, that livens up the proceedings.
